“bee the change”
Dear Falcon Families,
As I sit back to write to you for our Spring 2021 newsletter there are many
things I want to share with you. I am so proud of our students, community
and Falcon Faculty for all the accomplishments we achieved together during
the Fall semester of 2020. We opened school as planned and built relation-
ships with our students and community - all during a pandemic. We did have
to modify some of our sporting events, clubs and homecoming but we are so
grateful we have been able to celebrate all these wonderful activities with
our students.
There was no playbook, guide or directions for operating a school during a
pandemic. We planned carefully, always doing what was best and safest for
our students first. Our parents and community supported every plan and for
that we are grateful. Jensen Beach High School is proud of the accomplish-
ments our students achieved these last 18 weeks. We are also proud to
have the community support from our parents, local businesses, and com-
munity partners. We could not achieve all the amazing things we do on our
campus without their support.
2
As I looked around the past few weeks, I began to look through a different lens, one of hope and faith. I am
so confident that our amazing Falcon Family can achieve anything when we work together. As we move
into spring it is my hope that additional students will return to brick and mortar school. We are here to serve
each and every student and want to ensure educational success for all of our Falcon students. We will
continue to have our Covid protocols in place to ensure our students remain healthy and safe. Every
morning our team is excited to open our doors and greet our students. We miss the ones that are not on
campus and those we don’t see daily. If there is anything we can do to assist our remote learners, we are
available. If your student needs additional support, I encourage you to have them come to school daily and
we will do all we can to offer support and help them be successful.
While January is the beginning of the winter season it is also the beginning of spring semester for our
Jensen Beach High School students. There are many things that happen in our spring semester so I
encourage you to check our website for our daily announcements from the Beach, updates from our
Guidance Office and listen to our remote calls home. We will begin registration for the 2021-2022 school
year shortly. Senior Activities and Graduation are around the corner and will be here before we know it.
Spring sports will also begin shortly. I look forward to a wonderful and complete spring semester on our
Jensen Beach High School campus.
The staff and administration at Jensen Beach High School is proud to serve the Jensen Beach High School
community and our Falcon Family. We wish everyone happiness in the 2021 year ahead.
Educationally yours,
Lori Vogel Principal

Remote Learning Rules and Protocols for Students
This set of rules and protocols are meant to assist teachers and students in maintaining an orderly remote atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Feedback from both in person students and remote students as well as teachers and parents have necessitated these actions to maintain equity of learning in the classroom for all students. We appreciate the understanding from all stakeholders as we work to provide the most optimal learning experience for our students. Cameras must be on at all times. The teacher must see your face and be able to identify you. This is important for accurate attendance and so that teachers can monitor student engagement. If you refuse to turn the camera on, it will be counted as an absence and you will be moved to the waiting room. Students must be in a distraction free place that is conducive to learning (desk, table, quiet room) with appropriate materials handy. (pen, paper, laptop, etc.) Students must have appropriate and accurate names displayed on their zoom. School dress code policy is in effect for remote learners. Virtual backgrounds should be limited to solid colors, school/college logos, or armed forces logos. Students report being distracted by the backgrounds and it is difficult for teachers to monitor the appropriateness of the background. Students should be stationary at all times. No driving in cars, riding on bikes, shopping in stores, eating at restaurants, or doctor visits. Remote learners have the same expectations as in person learners and must take the absence either excused or unexcused for personal reasons. If you must excuse yourself from the zoom, please turn your camera off to signal to the teacher that you are stepping away momentarily. Please turn the camera back on promptly when you return. If you are gone for more than 5 minutes, the teacher will move you to the waiting room and you must request to enter so that the teacher can monitor your time away just as they would in the classroom. If you are gone for longer than 10 minutes, it will be considered skipping and you may have consequences. Please privately message the teacher for any personal questions or comments. Remember, your teachers are there to help you. If you have a special circumstance concerning items above, you should communicate with your teacher so you do not face consequences. Teachers will be specific on how they prefer you communicate with them for academic reasons.
