CARES Act Charitable Giving Information for the rest of 2020
1. The new law temporarily suspends the requirements for re-quired minimum distributions (RMD) for the 2020 tax year. Many donors use their RMD to make a gift from their IRA. If a donor is 70.5 or older, they can still make a gift from their IRA or name us as a beneficiary. In addition, there are some new ways you can receive financial benefits and help organizations like us.
2. The new law allows all taxpayers to take a charitable deduc-tion of up to $300, even if you do not itemize. You might think this is a small amount and would not make a difference. But what if all our donors gave “just” $300? Such support would have a huge impact on us!
3. For those who do itemize their deductions, the new law allows for cash contributions to qualified charities such as ours to be deducted up to 100% of your adjusted gross income for the 2020 calendar year.
As always consult with your tax professional about your charita-ble giving decisions, especially with these new provisions from the CARES Act.
A Prayer for Easter Dear Father,
My eyes lift to Heaven in total adoration of the one true God you are. Your incredible love for the world exceeds my imagination
and your gracious gift of life excels beyond my understanding. When I reflect on the cross of Calvary, my mind fails to grasp the
depth of darkness. The day you turned your back on your son as he bore the sin of the world. For everyone ever born. For me.
The price was so great yet his blood poured out to yield the highest returns of investment ever known. O Death - where is your
sting? O Grave - where is your victory? Death? It is extinguished. The Grave? It has been conquered. And the empty tomb? Cele-
brated. He is Risen and we praise you, Father! Hosanna and Amen!
From the Desk of Fr. Bill April 12, Easter 2020
I am so blessed by God to be your Pastor. I wish I could list all the special little things that people voluntarily do to honor God and keep the parishes and community functioning, but I would run out of room in the bulletin. These actions, which rarely anyone else can wit-ness, are so inspiring that I thank God each day for the call to the priesthood. For the oppor-tunity to be part of our communities where the Christian faith is so strong and our families, especially during these challenging times, honor God so beautifully by what they say and do. Easter is a season of miracles. Let us prayerfully ask God for a miracle to put an end to the Covid-19 pandemic and a return to prosperity. The season of Easter will last for 50 days, until Pentecost Sunday, which is celebrated on May 31 in 2020. For sure there will still be a lot of unknowns as far as what the daily routine will look like. Let’s not miss the opportunity to praise God for the gift of eternal life in heavenly glory. For God can take this darkness that we have experienced and make something glorious out of it. If there has been one lesson during this time of mitigation, at least for me, is God is in control. The reality is life is so fragile and for some so short. It is a reminder that frivolous actions or hobbies are just that; they pass the time away but do not help us to be all that we want to be in life. The time of planting has arrived for our farmers, we ask God for the blessing of safety and protection from all ac-cidents and that they may receive a just reward for their hard work. Again, I continue to pray for each and every one of you. I look forward to the day when we can join together and cele-brate the Eucharist together. May the Easter graces of God be upon you! Fr. Bill.
