THE ESSENTIALS
“Tramways Union”: this was the beginning of UTP back in 1899. Following the introduction of the law authorizing the setting up of professional trade unions in 1884, the aim of the organisation was to defend the interests of companies managing railway lines. Banned under the Occupation, the organisation eventually re-launched activities post-war, gradually focusing its efforts on urban public transport. Once railway undertakings came on board in 2006 and railway infrastructure managers in 2013, UTP soon covered the entire domain of public transport.
1981
The Urban and Regional Public Transport Union becomes the Public Transport Union.
1999
Confi rmation of missions: defend the interests of members at national and European levels and successfully carry out labour negotiations.
