WORK-LIFE BALANCE

The project work is “A study on work-life balance of

employees in Kerala Feeds Ltd, Kalletumkara

As defined by Manfred “work-life balance is a person’s

control over the conditions in their workplace. It is

accomplished when an individual feels dually satisfied

about their personal life & their paid occupation. It

mutually benefits the individual, business & society

when a person’s personal life is balanced with his/her

own job”

INDUSTRY PROFILE

Feed manufacturing started around 1956 in India

Feed was produced mainly to suppliment the needs of dairy cattle

The industrial production is about 3 million tonnes,which represent only 5 % of total potential & feed exports are not very high

The quality of indian feed can be compared with that of any western feed

The kerala fees ltd ,company set up in 1995 Headed by chairmanship of secretary of

govt( Animal husbandry & diary dvpt) The unit is located in Kalletumkara,Thrissur It is commited to provide quality livestock feed &

service to farmers at a lower cost(v) More than 400 employees

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Now a days the Organization is facing several problems,The

imbalance is due to high competition and low demand for the product ,faced by the organisation ,a stressed environment was created ,as a result many imbalances were found among the employees work-life and personal life.

Get,factors affecting employee work life balance ,role in org & the approaches to improve the employee work life balance

.The present study carried out with the following objective  To study the work life balance of the

employees in Kerala feeds Ltd. To study the major factors affecting work

life balance. To identify any imbalances in the

organization. To find out things needed to improve the

work life balance of employees. To offer findings ,suggestions and

conclusion.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY Through this study the organization are

able to evaluate the impact of employee work life balance in an organization climate and to understand the role of employee work life balance in shaping the personality of the employees and in developing a good organizational and social climate.

Employee work life balance focuses on the problem of creating a human work environment and his personal life.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

SAMPLE DESIGN:-UNIT – Kerala feeds private ltd, Thrissur SIZE - 50 employeees from various departments of the organization 

SAMPLING METHOD Sample method was selected using simple random sampling method. 

COLLECTION OF DATA Primary Data The researcher collected primary data through questionnaire method. Secondary Data Secondary data was collected from internet,profile and website of the

organisation as the source of secondary data.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

  There was an unavailability of the

workers at the right time of data collection, so it takes a long time

Data collected cannot be accurate Time constraint made it impossible to

gather more information. The questionnaire included objective

answers, so it was difficult to select one particular option.

Interpretation

From the analysed data Table 3.6 shows 44% of employees say that, work load is medium.42% of the employees opinion is that work load is high. 8% say that work load is high and rest of 6% says that work load is low.

INTERPRETATIONFrom the analysed data table 3.7 shows that 28 % of the respondents are interested in taking course of Training & 6% f them interested in sports activities and 58% respondent like the trade union activities and remaining 8% of them would like to do the part time work .

MAJOR FINDINGS Opinion of the employees about their workload is not so high Majority of the employees are satisfied with the recreation

facilities Majority of the employees are satisfied with the welfare

measures of the organisation More than half of the employes are interested in Trade union

activities Most of them have time to accomplish their goals Majority Employees are able to achieve a healthy balance

between work and personal life Physical problems is the factor that leads to recognise when

employees are under stress Majority of them are balancing their work & personal life

SUGGESTIONS

Employees feel stressed while working, necessary steps have to be taken to reduce stress which affects physical stress in work.

Reduce workload. Increase compensation for employees to

reduce financial problems in family environment and also to reduce stress.

Health awareness programs shall be conducted.

An annual feedback system regarding work may be introduced in the organization.

CONCLUSION

CONCLUSIONThe organization can achieve its goals only if the work force performs their job with deep involvement. For this employee should be properly motivated. A variety of conditions such as high physical stress, physical conditions of the job, lack of opportunity for growth, absenteeism, low compensation, workload hectic and routine tasks in the company that lead to an imbalance between family and work life. Flexibility in working hours, reduce workload, autonomous work groups, job satisfaction, and opportunity for growth, employee participation, open

communication and suggestion system are some of the approaches to improve work-life balance. The basic purpose of improving employee work life balance is to change the climate at work so that human-technological interface leads to a better employee work-life balance.
