• Improve patient care through interprofessional teamwork and collaboration
• Recognize the ethical principles involved in the management of patients experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock
• Describe the scope of the problem of cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest in AMI and illustrate the need for novel and alternative treatment strategies
• Explain the rationale for systems-based care and multi-disciplinary consensus clinical protocols in caring for patients experiencing cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock in AMI
• Discuss the importance of rapid and early recognition, triage, and intervention in patients experiencing cardiac arrest and cardiogenic shock

• Describe the indications and contraindications for therapeutic hypothermia
• Identify the outcomes and potential benefits from therapeutic hypothermia
• Review the guidelines for therapeutic hypothermia
• Discuss application of teamwork dynamics to positively impact patient care
VA-ECMO for Acute Cardiogenic Shock: Can We Improve Outcomes?
• Review the history and rationale for VA-ECMO for cardiogenic shock
• Discuss the current evidence for VA-ECMO use in acute cardiogenic shock
• Describe the contemporary role of VA-ECMO for eCPR
• Discuss ethical considerations for VA-ECMO use for eCPR
Panel Discussion: The Patient Experience
• Describe the patient experience pre-event, hospital course and life afterward
• Discuss patient care, care team interactions and family support from the nurse perspective
• Describe the collaboration between EMS and hospital providers
