Over the coming weeks our Lenten symbol will be “KEYS”.

What key do you need to become free this Lent? You are invited to reflect on what are the

“Keys” you need in your life at this time.

The “Keys” to freedom come in many different shapes and sizes, depending where on life

journey we find ourselves. We all try to live by many different values, but usually one or two of

them stand out a little more than the others.

What “Chains” hold us/ensnare us?

What “Locks” need to be opened?

What “Keys” do I need to free myself?

We may need the “Key” of forgiveness, the “Key” of Acceptance, the “Key” of

Love, the “Key” of Quietness, the “Key” of Honesty, or maybe the “Key” of

Patience and Kindness.

What “Key” do you need this Lent to FREE yourself so as to receive EASTER JOY?

**IMPORTANT NOTICE** Re Mass Times The Parish Council & the Liturgy Group, along with Fr Hermi have addressed the issue of the weekend mass times.

-THERE IS NO MAIN MASS – all masses are of the same value.

The 1st & 4th Saturday night & the 2nd & 3rd Sunday Mass is when we come together to celebrate Eucharist as a

COMMUNITY.

At this mass we will follow the roster for –

Overhead, Welcomers at the door, Welcomers at the Mic, Readers, Communion Ministers etc.

The Mass times and Dates will follow the St. Mary’s Parish & School Calendar for 2019.

Saturday Mass on the 2nd & 3rd is a pastoral decision made by Fr Hermi for the convenience of those who, for whatever

reason, find themselves unable to celebrate Mass on the Sunday.

Ministers will be required for these Masses.

Of course, it up to you and your family as to when you wish to celebrate. We hope this brings clarification to the issue.

Please feel free to contact Fr Hermi, Mary Collins (PPC), Camille Kelloway (LG)

Introduction

On this Sunday before Lent, the readings challenge us to be mindful of our thoughts, words and deeds. They call us to first judge ourselves before we judge others.

May God shake us from our sins of apathy and judgment, so as to provide a path to enter more

deeply into the Lenten journey before us.

First Reading Ecclesiasticus 27:4-7

Tribulation is the test of the just

Responsorial Psalm

Lord, it is good to give thanks to you

Second Reading 1 Corinthians 15:54-58

Where, O death, is your sting?

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! Shine on the world like bright stars; you are

offering it the word of life ALLELUIA!

Gospel Luke 6:39-45

Remove the beam from your own eye first

Prayers of the Faithful We pray for Pope Francis and all church leaders as they leave the Vatican and return to their parishes. May they always work for the good of their communities with wisdom, humility and justice, Let us pray:

We pray for all Governments throughout the world, may they exercise courage to listen, wisdom to discern and the compassion to do what is right for the world and it’s people, Let us pray:

We pray that we choose our words wisely. Words have the power to bring us together and unite us in one mind and one voice. So that with the spirit of God we may live in trust and goodwill, Let us pray:

For the wisdom to listen compassionately, to judge gently and to endure tribulations faithfully, we pray:

For those who suffer from the effects of harsh weather, natural disasters and poor living conditions, we pray:

This Thursday we celebrate International Women’s Day. Let us pray that we support and encourage those who act to uphold the rights and dignity of women. We pray for ourselves, that as people of faith we be committed to building a world where every human being is respected, we pray.

Let us pray together.... God of love,

hear these prayers and guide us to an ever-deepening awareness of your will. Help us remove the beams in our own eyes so we may better serve others. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
