Forecasting The future….It is Near
New Generations will not be interested to live in old and conventional city. They
will continue demanding technologies and be integrated in daily lives.
The more intelligent the city will be the more attractive will be for the future skilled
and knowledge workers.
Kids are the future inhabitants, they will determine the future of the city they will
live in.
Cities are moving forward so we need to be a leader not a lager.

Three main OBJECTIVES for The Initiative
There are many Objectives for becoming a
Digital municipality and are summarized in
the following three highly important ones.
An “INTEGRATION” and “COLLABORATION”
BETWEEN All STAKEHOLDERS to:
“IMPROVE the CITY SERVICES delivery”,
“REDUCE THE COST of providing services”,
and “ Enhance QUALITY OF LIFE for Citizens ”.

Page 14
Advantage of Abu Dhabi municipality to achieve success
Abu Dhabi owns a well spread network of fiber optics inside the Island where
many pilot projects can be commissioned.
Owning the Fiber Optics infrastructure makes the municipality in control of
the passive layer of the digital city operating model.
Abu Dhabi Municipality controls the water irrigation and landscaping
maintenance of the city and has a strong SCADA system.
The existing of new developments in the city will allow the implementation of
any digital strategy.

• Municipality Open Data can be with great value for the Economy, society
and performance.
• Open Data will empower citizens to help in many areas. It will enable the
public to provide feedback to the City and to create value in some other
positive, constructive way.
• Opening government data is only a way-point on the road to improving
education, improving government, and building tools to solve other real
world problems.
• A heat map for example can reflect information about the
city with coordinates or with Address/location references.
• These Open data / Information can be very helpful for public
and private sectors about density of things/Plans/Status.
• Such Information can be anything about the city:

Public libraries have always played a big role in the creation of an
educated society. Libraries are the physical creative space for citizens.
Municipality should work on promoting public library’s usage and
simplify the management of these libraries through smart solutions.
