The Chapter ended year 2018 by sharing love and comfort to the more than2000 inmates of Caloocan City Jail in Talimusak, Kaunlaran Village, Caloocan City. The project was endeavored by NMMC in partnership with Sto. Nino deCongreso Parish of Novaliches, Quezon City on December 28, 2018.

With the proceeds of the very successful previously held NMMC Bingo Game, the chapter was able to donate various goods for the basic needs of the inmates.A total of 250 bags were heartily prepared, each pack containing towel, laundrysoaps, tooth paste, bath soap, deodorant, shampoo, coffee and biscuits. Rev. Fr.Jensen Ronquillo of Sto. Nino de Congreso headed this gift-giving event andcelebrated a Holy Mass inside the jail chapel. Afterwards, all inmatebeneficiaries were served lunch by the NMMC and church volunteers asexpression of the Chapter’s genuine compassion and charity.

Due to heavy foot traffic and congestion of inmates, there was an initialhesitation and anxiety amongst the NMMC volunteers in the process ofdistributing the gift packs. However, the true spirit of giving and sense ofhumanity prevailed as the sincere words of gratitude “Maraming Salamat” andhuge smiles from the inmates rewarded the all volunteers’ efforts .

This event would not have happened without the efforts and kindness of currentNMMC officers and ex-President, Ms. Thelma Hugo. Amidst the busyness of theseason, the latter together with Ms. Kathie Sobremonte’s staff and Ms. Ellen DeGuzman’s family happily gathered at the house of Ms. Thelma in East Fairview,Quezon City for the purchase, packing and delivery of all the 250 gifts bags.

NMMC President Ms. Ellen de Guzman expressed her gratitude to all whoparticipated in the activity, for “going the extra mile” for the sake of serving thechapter and the whole community.
