T he sustainability in Berto is both towards the beautiful
environment that has hosted the company for over 130 years,
and towards the people that work for the company. SUSTAINABILITY is a process
closely linked to RESEARCH and INNOVATION. Over the years, all
production processes have been redesigned and improved to ensure
MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY, TRANSPARENCY and SUSTAINABILITY.
For the new SPRING SUMMER 2021 collection we are going to present a further
improvement in sustainable fabrics. We enlarged the offer of GOTS certified
fabrics, that are made with organic cotton. We also increased the number of GRS
certified fabrics: for those fabrics we used regenerated yarns that has got a FASHION
and PARTICULAR aspect. In this collection we improved the use of
a SPECIAL PRE-REDUCED INDIGO DYEING that allowed us to reduce the use of che-
micals by half (only 15% of all denim mills use pre-reduced indigo).
But what’s the title of this collection? We titled BERTO SPRING SUMMER 2021
“FREE SPIRIT”.We let ourselves be inspired by young
people, by that “Z generation” that has a really “free spirit” but at the same time is personally involved in the fight against
climate change. We want to follow their needs, with an extrovert collection,
characterized by special colours and images, but always with a 360° degrees
attention to sustainability.
A SEASON OF REWARDED CREATIVITY
T his season PG DENIM collaborated with the brand
Peppinopeppino for a unique new collection designed for the
stores, that will premiere at Pitti Uomo 97 in January 2020. Moreover, PG DENIM has
gladly been part of the Milan Fashion Week participating at the event “Denim. Science,
ethic and aesthetic”.Furthermore,PG DENIM made its entry in the US
market, while Paolo Gnutti has also been included in the 2019 Rivet’s Influential 50, the index of the most creative and forward-thinking leaders of jeanswear
industry. As for the new SS 2021 collections, interpretations are focused
on the world renowned PG creativity, once again proposing a unique “wizard touch”,
especially in printings, reinterpreted in their most colored techniques, starting
from Provence, and further expanding the “Studio 54” line as well as the “Garage
Denim” one, in a constant melting pot with Japan, Italy and USA.
PG DENIM believes that the future will be more and more oriented towards a 100% sustainable product, but keeping in mind
trends and fashionability, curiosity, and out of the box thinking. This is because
we believe that a product should generate emotions, and this is the approach
undertaken to design every new collection.
W e, as Anubha, believe that collaboration
with like-minded businesses is essential,
during our journey to sustainable denim. On our 5thAnniversary, we are proud to
be partnering with MUDJeans, with collaboratively designed pocketing
fabric, which is 100% organic cotton, ethically woven and carrying our message:
Together, we turn this walk into a march.
A s part of its long-term com-mitment to sustainability and the company’s Planet Agenda
platform, The LYCRA Company recently introduced LYCRA® EcoMade
fibre. This new fibre is the company’s first branded elastane/spandex product that is
made with pre-consumer recycled materials.
LYCRA® EcoMade fibre offers the same lasting comfort, fit and freedom of
movement as the original LYCRA® fibre, but is made with waste collected at the
company’s manufacturing sites and blended with virgin fibre at specific
concentrations. This reduces waste and puts it back into production.
Product Sustainability is one of the three interdependent pillars under The LYCRA
Company’s Planet Agenda, which also includes Corporate Responsibility and
Manufacturing Excellence. This framework represents the company’s commitment
to developing products and technologies that minimize its environmental footprint,
enhancing the performance of its customers’ offerings, and safeguarding
the health and safety of its employees and the communities where they work.

D estro collections are produced inside Eurotessile spa, starting from the
raw material (bale of cotton) till the weaving. Focused on every detail
through all stages of production, working for and with the customer, in order to pursue beauty,
respect and love for what we do. Quality, environment, safety and social responsabili-
ty are our values. The company has integrated them into one management system, according to the standard UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and our
products comply with the regulation REACH 1907/2006. The company has recently obtained
OEKO-TEST certification for yarns and fabrics and its short-term goal is GRS (Global Recycled Standard). Eurotessile is also a member of BCI
organization. Futhermore the company produces each year about 680.000 kwh with
its 2 photovoltaic systems, reducing 360.000kg of CO2 in the atmosphere and saves energy with
new lighting and air-conditioning systems.TAKA
Is one our bestseller for Chino Trousers. We studied the construction of Chino
fabrics from their first appearance in the 19th Century, to WW2, to the evolution in the 50’s and
60’s till. Its coming back in the 80’s with a new name: Superlibertador, more resistant and lasting than before, made of 100% cotton
twisted in warp and weft.It is here that starts the story of our article
TAKA, we have reproduced exactly the same with the finest natural yarn, so full of threads and
compact that is hard to sew and dye, but only made in that way, it can be rich as the original.
MEASURING SUSTAINABILITY.GENESIS:M&J GROUP
SETS NEW STANDARDS IN GARMENT MANUFACTURING
D uring the last months GENE-SIS:M&J Group presented its highly innovative proposals
and latest advancements in the world of garment manufacturing. The stra-tegy behind the new approach is based on
three main pillars: an accurate supply-chain selection, unique
sustainable data control with START TO MEASURE™ system improved, and the
development of safer work conditions and processes. To stay at the forefront of gar-ment washings the company also recent-
ly adopted a new washing process that allows to recycle treated effluent from ETP (Wastewater Treatment Plant). This sets a
new standard in GENESIS facility, that is able to recycle the treated effluent directly in the garment washing process, reducing
fresh water requirements by 50%. New developments were presented also
for the new s/s 2021 collection: more sustainable than ever. New trends involve
eco-conscious fabrics such as organic cot-ton, recycled fabric and polymer, realizing
blends with natural fibers like hemp & linen while working also with a wide variety of
biodegradable materials.
REUSING AND REDESIGNING
D inghui, would like to show one of the many approach we can
have when it comes to work on a sustainable denim collection,
in this case we talk about reusing and redesigning. This is a pair of
super short jeans, we found it in a box of samples we were about to throw away. It used to have a big hole on the back joke and was not longer usable. The designer thoughts he can repair it and give to him
a new attractive and modern look turning it into a new proposal sample. This denim
short has an allover laser flower pattern and the hole has been repaired creating an interesting contrast in shades. Adding a PU
material skirt on top, handmade embroidered with the same flower
pattern as the short, this garment is fully transformed into something new.
The successful makeover of this special product has given designers a new direction: reusing and redesigning
denim. We believe there will be more redesigning denim in the future collection.
When designing in a conscious way, we can add a little contribution to the
environmental protection.
C adica SS2020 collection will be focusing on colors and shapes, but with a retro-mood inspired by ‘the
future in the 1970s’. In other words, a return of the 70s but with modern techni-ques and materials projected in the future. The denim selection will also have a strong impact with a dedicated capsule, thanks to
Cadica’s continued blue-addicted soul: stratification techniques, manual processes,
chalk effects, multilayers, craft application of fabrics and seams. Cadica’s new lines and products are proof of the continued research
for authenticity, supporting and promoting new languages and values: the respect of the
environment, not only the natural one but also the social, cultural and artistic ones.
During the next months, the company aims to evolve its ETHICAL CHOICE project,
by supporting all sustainable activities such as reducing plastic waste and promoting
ùre-usable/sustainable products. For example with this eco-philosophy
Cadica next actions will be:-substituting all its corporate materials by following these
ethical concepts: recyclable, biodegradable, natural, no waste, re-use. -the launch of a
new special Ethical Collection that will be presented next December, will
illustrate our new trims and accessories that respect the planet.-continuing
the collaboration withTree-Nation (www.Tree-nation.com).This will help the environ-
ment with a simple action: reforesting the world and planting new tree in a selected
forest around the world, that will be considered Cadica’s forest!
