GREETINGS CHI MEMBERS,
Welcome to the start of a brand new school year! It is hard to believe that summer is over and school is back in session. There are many things happening within our organization this year that we are excited about!
We will focus this year on four things...
1. Continue support for Schools for Africa project. We will learn about the Life Straws program, and hold a silent auction to raise money for both Schools for Africa and Life Straws.
2. Develop greater awareness of chapter benefits. Make sure everyone signs into the dkg.org website and clicks “yes’ under “My Participation” to include their profile in the Directory and updates their MyDKG Profile. Also we will work on sharing scholarship and grant opportunities with the members.
3. Continue support for Beginning Teachers
4. Keep Achievement Award expectations in mind as we plan and carry out our activities for the year. We are excited to announce that President Connie Savell will be joining us in October for our joint meeting! Her theme will continue to be “Let’s Sparkle”. She will be speaking to us about wellness. Dues Options: Our dues remain the same this year: $85.00 -Active and $35.00- Reserve. We will continue to have another payment option available to you in addition to check or cash. You may pay by credit card ($85 + $3 bank charge= $88). You may pay your dues at the
September or October meetings or by mail to Nancy Tucker. We look forward to seeing everyone at our September meeting and sharing with you all of the exciting information that is coming for our new biennium! Karen Jobe and Kayla Mabe, Co-Presidents

International
Constitution & Standing Rules
Amended
The name of the Society will remain The Delta Kappa
Gamma Society International. The name of the state
organizations will change to geographic locations and
omit the Greek name references. The proposal
retained that states shall name the chapters. Although
amendments take effect immediately upon passing at
the convention, the name change will be gradual as
the committee works through all the changes.
Another change is to allow education majors to
become collegiate members of DKG. The new
addition to the membership section outlines
qualifications and dues.
See the DKG website for all adopted amendments.
Chi Finance
Please study the proposed budget and be prepared to
vote on it at the September meeting. Please bring this
proposal to the meeting. Once adopted, it will be your
copy of this year's Budget.

Our Fall Executive Board meeting will be at Elon on September 15, 2018. This meeting is for chapter presidents, officers, past presidents, regional directors, and committee chairs so please make plans to represent your chapter at this important meeting! Tracy Collier of Tennessee will be sharing information from DKGNext. Regional Directors will meet with you in the afternoon. The Eta State NC goals are the same for the rest of the biennium. The state Wellness Initiative continues to focus on exercise, eating right, and taking care of ourselves. Wellness is a very broad topic and chapters are encouraged to focus on a topic appealing to your members. Eta State will be 85 years old in 2019! Help us grow Eta State North Carolina by inviting new members to join your chapter. Wishing you a Sparkling Year in DKG!
Connie Connie Phifer Savell
Eta State NC President
