HOW TO BACKUP YOUR DVD MOVIES USING FREE SOFTWARE

(In no way is this software to be used for copying movies rented from Blockbuster, Hollywood Video or

Netflix - even though it can be done. This demonstration is for backing up your own DVDs, owned by you)

Software Needed: CloneDVD, ImgBurn (free)

Where To Get It: http://www.clonedvd.net/download.html and http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.3.2.0.e

Step 1. Insert the movie you want to backup into your DVD drive.

Step 2. Run CloneDVD (see figure 1).

Step 3. Ensure your DVD is selected…

Step 4. Ensure “C:\” drive is selected in the second text box…

Step 5. Ensure “DVD” is selected in the third text box…

Step 6. Ensure “4.7” is selected here…

You will see this progress indicator, figure 7 - (it can take several minutes)

Step 8. Once it reaches 100%, close the popup that shows “backup complete”.

Step 9. Eject and remove the movie from your DVD drive.

Step 10. Place a blank 4.7GB DVD disc in your DVD drive.

Step 11. Run ImgBurn software…

Step 12. Click “Mode > Build”…

Step 19. Click “yes” to use the default volume label…

Step 20. Click “OK” to begin the burning process…

Step 21. Once your DVD drive ejects, you can close ImgBurn and play the DVD in any home DVD player. 

Step 22. Delete the movie from your hard drive!!! If you fail to do this, your hard drive will quickly fill up!!!

Once you have successfully ripped and burned the DVD, the “copy” can then be copied without the need to “rip” it.
