The State University is fortunate in tha.t another strong ma.n has been added to the boa.rd of regents, one who will be well q ua.lified to 611 the place left va.cant by the resigna.tion of Hon. Shirley Gilliland. Dr_ Treynor of Council Bluffs who htIos been nominated for the place by the reprpsentatives from the Ninth congressional district is a very able man. His cboice 4;0 tbe place on the board is in compliance with a general demand that there should be some member of the medical fraternity upon the board, since the medical school here is such an ioportant part of the university.

Dr. Treynor in addition to being a well known doctor is one of the progressive citizens of Council Bluffs and Southwestern Iowtlo. He bas not taken a very active Pf'rt in polities. He has served two terms as cororner of Pottawattamie County, not because he wanted the place, but because the Republican party realizing his ability and popularity requested hiril to make the race for it. Men Are not Enthusiastic Enough-Too Much Confi

dence Among Then

"If we want to win anything on the tra.ck this spring, the candidate must take to their work of preparation a little more seriously," said Ol"e of the men intere ted in the development of the team. "Notwithstanding the fact that it is only a. few weeks yet until the opening of the regu· lar season we cannot say that we ha.ve yet begun to prepare for it. To be sure practice is being held regularly but the ame men do uot turn ou t to all of the pract · ices. They come whenever they feel like it and as a result there are different ftl.ce at every practice event.

"I believe the men are filled with a little two much confidence" he said continuing. "They have a right tiO feel reasonably confident because from a. comparison of notes we have a right to predict that Iowa will win the state championship this year. But there are many things, are not very great ones either, thu.t might lreep the champIOnship away from ns. If we do win it we might as well win it with a good margin .

"Then there are other reasons why the athletes should be in regular training now. If we ha.ve the meet with Minnesota this year it will htl.ve to be held early becau e the men will have to hA.ve time to rest up after it for the state meet. The Minnesota meet will have to be held ea'rly in May so you see that the period of outdoor training precedir.g it cannot be very long.

"From the present condition of the weather it is possible that we will be unable to get outdoors very etl.rly libis spring. Conse· quently we must take advantage of the opportuai ty to get in shape indoors. " ------
