The current curriculum in the journalism collages (Palestinian universities)

They have four media courses with media- journalism major and different minors
Major Media-Journalism/Minor Political Science

2. Department approval based on intake capacity.
Condition for Continuing in Major
Student in Major must maintain a cumulative Major average of not less than 70%.
Program Requirements
1. Student must successfully complete a minimum of 43 credit hours of courses distributed asfollows:
a. Core courses(31 credit hours): JOUR232 ; MDIA223 , MDIA233 , MDIA425 , RABC234 ,RABC235 , RABC236 , RABC321 , RABC331 , RABC412 , RABC433 , RABC438
b. Elective courses (9 credit hours) from the following list: MDIA237 , MDIA335 , MDIA336 ,MDIA337 , MDIA439 , RABC333

HEBRON UNIVERSITY
MEDIA DEPARTMENT
Mission
The Department Mission
The Media Department represents a central pillar in the larger structure of Hebron University.It strives to achieve its ultimate goals in full participation and integration with other Hebron
University departments, faculties and programs. It offers a bachelor's degree that successfullycombines courses which belong to all the different branches of media in one plan, an aspect thatmakes this specialization unique when compared to other media departments at other Palestinianuniversities. The Department plan is perceived as a unique one since it has managed to integratethe different media branches or sub-disciplines in one specialization. Out of belief in theimportance of media in modern times, as well as in the importance of meeting the needs of thecommunity, the Media Department at Hebron University was launched in 2005. The Departmentaims at graduating highly- skilled, qualified, and distinct graduates in order to boost professionalperformance among media graduates who may be able to make a real difference until reachingthe needed change in the society throughout serious and committed messages. In the first year,thirty students (30) were enrolled in the Department. The number doubled in subsequent years
until it amounted to (120) students in 2008/ 2009. In order to achieve the above mentioned goals,the University has been providing all supplies, such as the highly- equipped laboratoriesnecessary to graduate students who are armed with both theoretical knowledge and practicalexperience.
The Mission of the Department
The Media Department represents a main brick in the whole University large structure. It goes onachieving its fundamental goals in complete integration with all other University departmentsand faculties. It offers the bachelor degree in media. But the Media Department at HebronUniversity differs from all media departments at the Palestinian universities by the integration of
all different media branches in one specialization. Believing in the importance of media in themodern times, and by seeking to meet the needs of the society , and for the graduation of highly-skilled qualified and distinct graduates to upgrade the media committed performance by makingthe real difference in the media foundations until reaching the needed change in the societythroughout serious and committed messages, the Media Department at Hebron University wasinaugurated in 2005. General and Specific Objectives
The Department has developed a set of objectives to be achieved notably:
1. The pursuit of scientifically informed media in order to promote the
level of the committed and serious media performance.
2. The preparation of highly qualified, competent intellectuals who are capable of serving themedia field and contribute to advancing the national and Arab development.
3. Serving the University by highlighting its objectives through conferences, seminars, cultural,and social activities, and by enhancing links with other media and civil institutions.
4. Serving the society by giving the biggest concern to the social issues through the theoreticaland practical research.
5. Contributing to the media infrastructure in Palestine, hence, serving and promoting thePalestinian cause, as well as the strategic interests and the fair struggle of the Palestinian people.
6. Encouraging the media related studies and activities such as research, conferences, seminars ,workshops, scientific and cultural media events.
7. Graduating distinguished, highly qualified individuals who are scientifically and
intellectually prepared to serve the media work and to help contribute to the development ofPalestine.
8. Organizing courses and specialized programmes for the workers in the media sector leadingto the creation of media staff who are able to absorb and cope with the successive developmentin the arts of media industry.
9. Producing and broadcasting educational programmes of various disciplines to serve theeducational process.
10. Serving the university by highlighting its activities, conferences, scientific, cultural and
social seminars, in addition to strengthening the relations of the university with the Palestiniansociety and its media institutions.
