Brothers and Sisters:

Fraternal greetings!

Looking back when Idecided to run for the APOACNA Presidency a coupleof years ago, it is with greathonor and pride to say thateverything that I committed

to all of you at that time is close to fruition. And, if I might dare say,my time is not over yet. There is a saying that goes: “The soundtravels farther if you let someone else toot your own horn”. In thecourse of my presidency - a position that belonged to only one person- I must say, however, that I was not alone. In fact, I can take pride infact that I was surrounded by very capable Brothers and Sisters whosehorns are worth tooting.

I was able to attend numerous functions such as the Induction ofOfficers and in the process met AA members, officers, and very sup-portive spouses and partners. It is about time the Alumni Council ofNorth America (ACNA) became an active part in the life of each mem-ber association. I am glad I was able to do that by gracing 7 alumniassociation inductions of officers. Aside from inductions, I was able tomeet, discuss, and learn about issues that concerned North AmericanAA affairs with 12 alumni associations including attendance to 3 Boardof Directors and Council meetings. I am also happy and proud to haveled the North American delegation in the Philippines during the APO(Phils.) 26th Biennial Convention in Cagayan de Oro City in May 2011.

With the Philippine visit I am very happy to report of the success of our8th International Humanitarian Medical Dental and Optical Mission(IHMDOM ) in Cainta, Rizal on May 21, 2011 under the chairmanship ofour very dedicated and efficient Bro. Aleks Garcia, President of APODFWAA. We were able to raise $8,300.00 for this mission coming fromthe alumni association and individual donors from our advertisementsolicitation. I am very grateful to all who rendered their services espe-cially to Sis. Zita Balagot, Bro. Joey Policarpio, Bro. Manny Atienza,Bro.Ver Velasco , Lambda Chapter/AA, SAPOC AA, Alpha Eta, Bro.Mike Hernandez, Sis. Yoya Tariella , Bro.Arturo de Leon, APO USABrother’s Maggie Katz and Beth Tom and to over 120 volunteers fromNorth America and the Philippines as well. Maraming marami salamatpo sa inyong lahat.

The service rendered gave truth to the line, shooting two birds withone stone. With the amount collected we were able to conduct the 8th

IHMDOM and at the same time we were able to produce our memberdirectory for 2011-2012. At this point I would like to thank 2nd VP Bro.Roehl Reyes, Bro. Chosy Sy and Bro. Toto Cascolan for the nicemember directory that we have.

Our commitment to the APO Learning Center in Cainta, Rizal was accom-plished with the remittance of a $1,200 each for 2011 and 2012. I amhappy to report that there are now 3 schools serving the poor commu-nity of Cainta, Rizal which are all managed by the SAPOC Brothers andSisters. And if I may toot their horn, they are doing an awesome job!

Our ways and means committee chairman, 1st VP Bro. Ian Beltranowas great in coming up with this calendar/cash raffle fundraising.Indeed I am happy to report that a 100 % sales of those cash raffle wasmeet. We were able to have funds for ACNA with the net proceeds of$7,000.00 plus and we were able to share a $1,000.00 each to APOScouting Center in San Pablo, Laguna and Balik Chapter RecruitmentChallenge program.

APO ACNA alumni association members were all out and openingtheir pockets and sharing their old clothes to our countrymen affectedby typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City andDumaguete City with almost $10,000.00 plus sent to our very ownaffected Brothers and Sisters back home. Again we did it, as the say-ing goes “Charity begins at home”.

There are others that ACNA cares about, and ACNA shares with; andone of those is our help in APO Palawan “Summer Camps 3 and 4” andalso on the Recruitment video presentation which VP Fraternity andVP Sorority project that will boost the recruitment of our future gen-eration members.

As promised during my candidacy, I said we will produce at all times anaudited financial report for reporting during the BOD and Council meet-ing. I am proud to say we did that with the able reporting of our Trea-surer Bro. Bems Domingcil and our top caliber Auditor Bro. Thom Pascual. With our fiscal reporting side, I am happy to report that we are within ourbudget as per Board of Director’s approval in Boca Raton, Florida.

All of this was made possible only because of all your support, guid-ance and help and I thank you all for making that possible. I would liketo take this opportunity to thank all my executive officers who stood byme and believed that I can deliver. To all the alumni association Presi-dents , a big Thank You to all of you for supporting all our projects andactivities. As your president, I can’t ask for more! You were all there withme believing that we have the same thoughts and focus: “SHAREDVISION TOWARDS A COMMON MISSION”. I applaud all of you for ajob well-done and my 3 hand salute to signify my respect to all! Andnow can say...I am very proud and very privileged to toot your hornsBrothers and Sisters. As I transfer the gavel to the next ACNA Presi-dent, I wish all the incoming officers Best Wishes and More Power!

Mabuhay ang APO ACNA! Mabuhay tayong lahat! Salamat po ngmarami. God bless us all!

May we always be in Leadership, Friendship and Service!

Once an APO, always an APO! A true APO lives andbreathes service. Such is the case not only at the collegiatelevel, but more so in the alumni level. There is alwaysactivity within a given alumni association. There areplenty of fellowships where the brothers and sistersenjoy each other’s company in celebrating the truespirit of friendship. Fund raising activities prosper, butmore importantly service projects abound.

APO Midwest-Chicago AA is nodifferent than any other alumni association, but weare always proud to say that “it’s more fun inChicago!” Yes, it’s more fun in Chicago and we haveconsistently proven it whenever we host an ACNAevent. We have consistently met our association’sgoals, not without petty quarrels of course, but forthe most part and up until recently, we have remainedunited. The dedication and loyalty of the membersof APOMCAA especially during crucial momentsand events are always evident.

3 Years and counting. The years of service byAlpha Phi OmegaHollywood becomes aroutinary evolution.

They get theirfunds from the constantgimmicks and raffles. From Casino TurnArounds, Poker Game

tournaments, and brotherly donations. Theymake sure to keep a clear mind during meetings.

They have surpassed the nightmaresof organizing what type of service should begiven to the people in need. It is no longer aquestion of how they should prepare theirservices. It is more likely a question of who arethe people who deserve their help.

When the Filipino people cried for helpabout the lack of medicine in their cities, therewas little sweat of packing boxes and there waslittle sacrifice of time when the brothers whoprepared the boxes know that it was alreadypast their bed time. There was lots of love.

When children from the Philippineprovinces, who have toiled their way throughthe mountains just for education, needededbooks and tuition to finish their education -Alpha Phi Omega Hollywood promised tosupport the students until they graduate.

When the economy was down inUnited States of America and there was morehomeless people because of lack of jobs, andthere was no way to feed their families, AlphaPhi Omega Hollywood fed them.

The tragic in Ondoy and Cagayan deOro gave a lot of Alpha Phi Omega Hollywoodmembers some decreasing hopes, theysympathized for their families. And tried to givethe best support that they can give.

They have encouraged sports givingMarathoners some cheer and smile, or a cup ofwater for their thirst. The Marathoners were glad. They were energized.

Thinking about how another year willbe offerred for service. Alpha Phi OmegaHollywood will come into action another year, another more experience, another more success, another more hardships, and another morehappiness... Because we are Alpha Phi Omega.

Heexplained that hunger isa very real problem in thecommunity which mostlyhits our senior citizens.By donating their time, he explained, volunteers were“physically reaching out with their hearts and showinglove (to these seniors)”. The previous batch ofvolunteers, eighty in all, were able to produce one-thousand-six-hundred care packages. So he said thiswas the number to beat: 1,600.

Over the next two hours the volunteers: madeboxes; filled those boxes with various food items(cereal, rice, juice, dried milk, etc.); and then loadedthem into pallets. In the end, after Jim gathers everyoneto the front he ceremoniously tallies the numbers on asmall piece of paper. “One-thousand-eighty-sevenboxes of love! That’s how many people will receivethese boxes,” he exclaims. “If we had 44 morevolunteers–with our pace–we would have exceededthe previous group’s number. 1087, that’s our number”

Congratulations to our service chairperson,Bernie Cruz (Beta Eta chapter) for coordinating withSecond Harvest. It was a fun and fulfilling activity forall that participated.
