Rowlett has come together as a community to help one another. It is our
desire to assist in any way we can. Here is some information that may be
of assistance to you, your family or your business. If you do not find the
answers you need PLEASE call the Chamber at 972-475-3200 so we can
help you find the information you seek. I took this information from the
City website at www.rowlett.com. The Rowlett Chamber of Commerce will
be posting updates and additional information over the next several
weeks.
Do you or someone you know need assistance? The Cities of Rowlett and Garland have established a Joint Disaster Management Resource Center,
located at the Granger Recreation Center, 1310 W. Avenue F in Garland, 972-205-2771.
This joint center offers volunteers, residents impacted by the tornado, and the organizations offering
resources a “one-stop-shop” to connect.
Free bus shuttle service is now being offered from DART to-and-from the Joint Disaster Management
Resource Center for residents affected by the tornado. Buses will run from Herfurth Elementary School,
located on Miller at Chiesa, daily from 9:30am until 6:30pm.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) will have a Driver License Division team in place at the
Granger Recreation Center located at 1310 W Avenue F, Garland, 75040, from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday (1/1,2 & 3) for those impacted by the tornado. The Driver License
Division Customer Service Representatives will be available to assist disaster victims who have lost
their Texas Driver License or Texas Identification Card. This service is being provided to replace
documents lost by disaster victims only and not for routine renewals or original license issuance. All
other non-emergency transactions should be conducted at area DPS Driver License Offices during
normal business hours after the holiday weekend.
The Texas Department of Health will be at the Granger Recreation Center beginning Monday, January 4
thru January 10, administering tetanus shots. Lake Point Hospital has moved their free health clinic from
the Rowlett Community Centre to the First Christian Church (corner of Miller and Chiesa), where
tetanus shots are also available.
The center operates three divisions:
Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) - disaster volunteers are registered and referred to local agencies to
assist with relief efforts. At the VRC, volunteers will:
1. Complete a registration form and sign a general release of liability statement
2. Accept a referral to an organization needing their services (Referral includes a description of their
duties and complete address and contact information for the agency to which they have been referred)
3. Receive a form of identification approved by local officials
4. Participate in a safety briefing
5. Agree in writing to follow all safety instructions and directions from supervisors at their work sites.
Client Disaster Services Center - residents impacted by the event can get assistance/access to a multi-
tude of resources and recovery agencies.
Donations Management -Voluntary organizations with established donations structures in place to re-
ceive and deliver appropriate donated goods to disaster victims.

Free Health Care Resources The Texas Department of Health will be at the Granger Recreation Center on Monday, January 4 thru

Red Cross Temporary Shelter A temporary shelter is available at the Fields Recreation Center, located at 1701 Dairy Rd, in Garland.
The Red Cross is operating assistance centers in: C3 Church at 3700 Chaha

Insurance Questions For answers to insurance questions, help with a claim, or to report suspected insurance fraud, call the TDI
Consumer Help Line at 1-800-252-3439. Help is available in English and Spanish. Insurance specialists
are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to answer your insurance questions and to help
you with company contact
information.

work and school Jan. 4 and 5. Please help us locate all GISD families impacted by the tornadoes so we can answer
questions and offer assistance.

McAlister’s Deli began it’s affiliation with the Chamber as soon as they opened their doors in our community. The current manager Chris Farney and Catering Director Dawn Covin have made involvement in the community a priority.
