Inside this Issue:

Who is coming?

During the lead up to Christmas there is all sorts of excitement and energy. Somemes that

means that by the me Christmas Day gets here we’re exhausted. So, I thought I’d offer some

suggesons to help us pace ourselves so that we can truly enjoy the Christmas season. Give

these some thought:

Ask yourself why?

Why are you rushing around to get more ingredients to make those cookies?

Why are you stressing yourself with the Christmas card mailing list?

If these acvies add value and are a meaningful part of your Christmas experi-

ence then cherish them and make them happen. But, if they have simply be-

come obligaons then consider changing them, or loosening the expectaons

you have put upon yourself.

Try something new.

This year, do something different? If something looks intriguing or meaningful

try it out.

Another way to try something new, is to re-claim the meaning behind an acvi-

ty or event.

Our church is pu,ng this into acon this year, as we add to the Live Navity. So,

on Dec. 16th

, children and families will be able to enjoy a Night in Bethlehem.

Live in the moment.

Don’t worry about what is next. Live in the moment. Be fully present where

you are and to the people you are sharing life with.

Ready your insides.

We do a great job of ge,ng ready for Christmas on the outside. We put up

lights. We adorn everything with holly and evergreen. We put forth our

smiles. We say, “Merry Christmas” or another greeng. But maybe we

ought to also spruce up our inner life. Advent is a me for soul-searching

and perhaps spiritual renewal or refocusing. Try an advent devoonal,

there are many available in print or digitally.

Remember who we’re celebrang.

Somemes we forget what Christmas is about. Christmas is about Jesus. It is

about God’s ulmate gi6 of presence to the world. And it is about the

Cross too. There wouldn’t be an Easter, if there wasn’t a Christmas. There

is reason to celebrate, but let’s remember who we’re celebrang.

There are lots of ways to ready and celebrate Christmas at LUMC! May you have a meaningful

Advent and a joyous Christmas! I hope to see you Sunday!

Grace & Peace,

Erich
