ABSTRACT

The series of papers posits the belief that consciousness is multi-dimensional and eternal, the soul personality expressed asindividualised consciousness, incarnating repeatedly through time,reconnecting with purpose and intention to soul groups withsubconsciousmemoryasaninterface.Memoryofotherlivesisencapsulatedwithinthesubtleenergyfieldat the sub conscious level, coherence and content do not fit theexistingparadigm.Itpresentsasfragmentation,requiringaquantumshift torecognise,re-memberandre-integratethememorieswithinthe cohesive frameworkof anewdynamic.Quantumphysicspositsthat past, present and future exist simultaneously until observedwhentheycollapsetooneoutcome.Forthepurposeofthesepapersthe term ‘past life’ refers to memories arising in response toreconnection with others within a soul group i.e. those who haveshared experiences in other time frames. A comparison is drawnbetween science and mysticism, with reference made to theincreasing congruence between religious belief systems andquantumtheory.The papers examine a compilation of synergistic events occurringbetween 1991 and 1994, involving phenomena suggestive ofindividuated consciousness reincarnating and operating through‘soulgroup’connectionlinkedbymemory.Theresearcher’sworkasatraumatherapistwasbornoutofherownparanormalexperiencesin childhood and her retained ‘past life’ memories. This uniqueresearch examines the correlation between these previouslyundisclosed childhood memories and the spontaneous memories

arising foragroupofunrelatedclientssomethirtyyears later,whorememberedsharedlivestogether.Thecontentincludingevents,locationsandtimelineswasrepeatedlycorroboratedindependentlythroughtherapysessionsandcorrelatedwith the therapist’s own childhood memories occurring between1951 and 1959. INTRODUCTION

Religioustraditionconsidersthesoultobetheimmaterialaspectofindividual consciousnesswhich survivesphysicaldeath. The literaltranslationoftheHebrewwordNepheshψυχήis‘soul’asitrelatestosentience. PsycheistheGreekwordforsoul,definedbySocratesasthe‘TheTripartiteTheoryoftheSoul’initsthreeaspects:

• τὸλογιστικὸν (Reason,relatedtointellect)

• τὸἐπιθυμητικόν (Appetite,relatedtothesenses).According to ancient philosophy, consciousness originates from theun-manifestdimensionofether(aether)andispresentinallaspectsof Creation. In simplistic terms, spirit is primary, individuatedconsciousness evolving from etheric formlessness to form,correspondingwith thedensermental, sensoryandphysicalplanesthrough a process of downward causation. This is the principle

behindtheelectromagneticfieldorhumanaura,whichiscomprisedof complex interconnected, interdependent energy fields whichcoalesce around the physical body. The etheric or intuitive aspectresonates with the primary consciousness while maintaining theintellectual and sensory faculties which direct human thought andbehaviour. This interface allows subliminal connection to the non-physicaldimension.Akasha(Sanskritākāśaआकाश),isanancienttermreferringtospaceor aether in Indian cosmology, considered to be the first elementcreated, an ethereal fluid pervading the cosmos, the essencewhichcontainsall lowerelements. Thisspacefieldcontainstheprinciplesofsound,time,motionandrest,itistheelementfromwhichfire,air,waterandearthdescend. Allvibrationimprintsakasha,whetherasthought,wordoraction,creatingaplanetaryethericcompendiumofall that exists or has existed. This field carries not only theimpressionofallthathasgonebeforebutthepotentialeventsofthefuture;thisimprintedaethercanbeaccessedbyseersandmysticsashistoricallyvalidatedthroughthecenturies.Quantum theory postulates a Universe composed of sub atomicparticleswhichoscillateatdifferingfrequencies,creatinginteractiveenergy fields. Laterresearchconfirmedthatelectromagnetic fieldsconnecttheworldofform and resonant patterns and store this information. Otherresearch confirmed that the DNA Helix, bridges solar systemresonances, brain frequencies and extra sensory perception.(Hainsworth LB, Becker RO and Benton I). At the level ofindividuated human consciousness, the human energy field is afractionalmicrocosmofakasha, all thoughts,wordsandactionsareimprintedenergeticallyandtransmittedtothecellularlevelviaDNA

andotherbiochemicalprocesses.Electromagneticfieldsconnecttheworld of form and resonant patterns and store this information,determiningintuitive,intellectual,emotionalandultimatelyphysicalcapacity.The action of Light is quantified by its oscillation frequency,measuredinhertz(Hz)asthenumberofoscillationspersecond.Theactioncanbehavesimultaneouslyasawaveoraparticle,carried indiscrete quanta packets as photons, a universal medium ofinformation.Particlesinteractwithphotons,emittingelectrons(thephotoelectric effect), sub atomic particles interact with each otheremittingelectromagneticradiation. COLLECTIVEANDINDIVIDUATEDCONSCIOUSNESSConsciousness is multifunctional and operates on levels not yetunderstoodbymedical science. Carl Jungdefined consciousness inthreeparts:

• Egoorconsciousaspectofwakingawareness.

• Personal Unconscious which includes the memories andimpulses of which the individual is unaware but whichinfluenceperceptionandthereforebehaviour.

• Collective Unconscious, an inherited collection of ancestralknowledge and images with which every human being isendowedatbirth.

Opinion is divided as to the origins of supposed ‘past life’memory.Repressed traumatic memories are contained within the deeperlevelsof thesubconsciousbutarise inresponse to triggers toallowfor release and healing. Past life memories plucked from the‘Collective Unconsciousness’ can and do occur, however, this isrelated to archetypal affinity, a search for wholeness. There arenumerouscasesofsubjectswhobelievethemselvestobeJoanofArcorsomeotherarchetypalfigurerepresentinganaspectoftheirownconsciousnessasvictimorheroine. This isnot attributable topastlife memory but to energetic affinity, a resonance indicatingcorrespondence mirroring parallel experience. Such memorieswouldnotconstitutepastassociation.Memory,ImprintsandConsciousnessIn order to consider themechanism bywhich the soul personalityrepeatedly incarnates, it isessential toexamine theroleofmemoryto examine what is being remembered and whether this can beauthenticated. The hypothesis of the continuation of individuatedconsciousnessisbasedupontheprincipleofahierarchicalsystemof‘downward causation’ i.e. theprimacyofhigher consciousnesswithstepped down transmission to lower frequencies of the intellectualand sensory fields, culminating in thoughts, behaviour andphysicalaction. Hindu and Buddhist traditions state that every action, orintention impacts at the subconscious level of the mind, leaving a‘samskara’ (or samsara), a Sanskrit word meaning an energeticimprint held within the memory sheath (a component of theelectromagnetic fieldwhich interfaceswithpast experience). Whatwe identify as ‘personality’ is the sum total of all impressions andsubtle traces. ‘Samskaras’ define mental impressions andrecollectionswhichareineffectenergyfrozenintime,aresponsetoapastexperiencewhichimpactedupontheprevailingconsciousnesstoleaveanindelibleimpression.

Unlessreleased,imprintsarecarriedforwardatdeathtobecomethefoundation of belief in subsequent lives. In order to minimiseintrusion, energetic imprints are held at a subconscious level, weremain unaware of their existence, operating instinctively untilsignificant events trigger a response. At such time there willnormally be subtle recognition without cognitive understanding,explaining a deep sense of connection resulting in actionsconfoundingrationalchoices.Intermsofhumanconsciousness,thisis played out through personality and free will in response todisturbedequilibrium. SoulGroupMemoryRemembrance of other lives is as old as humanity and is wellrecorded. Reportedmemories,where several individuals recall thesame shared life or lives are less well documented but have beenmorewidelyresearchedinrecentdecades.ArthurGuirdham(1905–1992)anEnglishpsychiatrist,investigatedreports by a group of people living in the West of England whoindependentlyrecalledasharedlifeasCathars,areligioussectlivingin the Languedoc region of France in the 13th century. A group ofeightpeopleindependentlyrememberedthesameeventsofreligiouspersecutionandbeingburntatthestakeintheperiod1242to1244.These includedachildof sevenwhodrewsketches to illustrate thesame events. Guirdham traced the medieval names and roles ofseven of the eight people in the group. Historians believed thatCatharsalwaysworeblackgarments,discreditingtheaccountofoneof the subjectswho insisted the garmentswere blue. andDirectoroftheUniversityofVirginia'sDivisionofPerceptualStudies.DrStevensonwasResearchProfessorofPsychiatryfrom2002untilhisdeathin2007.‘Reincarnation and Biology: A Contribution to the Etiology ofBirthmarksandBirthDefects’Stevensonperformedananalysisof42 pairs of twins, ofwhomhe and his colleagues had investigated.For 31 pairs, the previous incarnations of both twins had beenidentified. An accusation ofcoachingbyparentsisfrequentlyusedasawayofdismissingreportsof past life memory by children, Stevenson stated: “Theundesirabilityofhavinga ‘Japanesechild’ inaBurmesefamilygivescredencetothisstudyandderivesfromthehistoryofBurmaduringWorldWarllandtheoccupationundertheJapaneseArmyduringtheyears1942-45”Quantum physics explains magnetic resonance and demonstrateshowparticlesaredrawntogetherbyentanglement,aprocessnotyetfullyunderstood. Olfactorymemory and visual cues: A client attending a seminarcommented that she had lost her sense of smell several yearspreviouslyandsowasunabletoenjoytheperfumeoftheflowersinthe seminar room. During a meditation focussing upon energyalignment those present were asked to remember a happyexperience,hersenseofsmellsuddenlyreturnedassherememberedspendingtimewithhergrandmotherinthegardenandthesmelloftheflowerstheyhadplantedtogether.Shelaterrealisedthatthelossof her sense of smell had occurred following the death of hergrandmotherwhensheattended the funeral andwasoverwhelmedbytheperfumeof flowersonhercoffin. This isanexampleofgriefblockinganemotionalmemory i.e. theperfumeof the flowers. Theburied memory was spontaneously accessed by the visual cue offlowers and reconnected through energy alignment by focussinguponapleasurablememory.Echoicmemory: Sound is a powerful emotional triggerwhich canignite memories from the past (echoic memory). A female clientrequestedtherapy,bewilderedbyherangryresponsewheneverherhusband watched a football match on television. The sound offootballsupportersshoutingandcheeringinthestandscausedhertoleave the room. During a recall session she accessed a ‘past life’memoryoftheColiseuminancientRome,describingbeingpetrifiedwithfearasshewaitedwithotherstoenterthearena.Thelastimagewas of crowds shouting and cheering as she went to her death.Followingenergyalignment,thenegativeemotionalresponsedidnotrecur. METHODOLOGY

EnergyAlignment

Theprincipleofalignmentis‘thecorrectpositioningofoneormoreelements by agreement’. If we accept higher consciousness as theprimary force, we acknowledge downward causation and therequirement to bring the lower denser fields into alignment toensure optimum effectiveness. This recognises the figure 8 loopinteraction between the subtle energy system linking higherconsciousness with the lower mental/emotional/physicalcomponents. Mainstream medicine views the brain as the seat ofconsciousness,neuroscienceacknowledgestheleft-brainhemisphereas the primary actor, transmitting electro chemical messages vianeurones to instruct physiological processes. Without anunderstanding that the higher mind instructs the lower orintellectualmindwedenyalinkingtierofbioenergeticinteraction.

FieldsofConsciousness

The intuitive field operates as an energetic interface retainingethericconnectionwhileprovidingabridgetothelowerintellectualandsensoryfields.Therightbrainhemisphereactsasareceiverandatransmitter. Anintuitivesignallingsystemcarriescodedsymbolic
