Joyful Christian or Sour Christian
Which one are you? I wanted to know the definition of joyful so I Googled it on my phone. It said "full of
joy." Some of the synonyms for joy were gleeful, jolly, jubilant, peppy, grateful and upbeat. Have you ever
known someone like that? I have and I love being around her. It seemed like my friend radiated joy at all
times. She made life look and seem much more fun.
I went another step and Googled characteristics that joyful people seem to have in common and this is what I
found: Joyful people . . .
Genuinely care about other people and show love for them
Tend to live a life of integrity. They are honest and sincere with others and themselves
Appreciate what they have and recognize the blessings that come their way
Eat well, follow a regular routine and believe in self care
Are patient with people and things around them
Look forward to life every day
Are always learning new things
Look for the best in others
Are naturally optimistic
Are always ready to forgive themselves and others.
When I was in church camp as a child, we used to sing a song that said, "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down
in My Heart" and I think it tells us much about Christianity. Christians find joy in life every day because of
God's presence in their lives and for what he has already done for them.

Thanks for your part in a great service of worship last Sunday. We’ve begun 2016 in fine fashion. FYI, the choirs are open for business. Come join us on Sunday afternoons/Wednesday evenings and sing your praise to the Lord especially on Sunday mornings!
Our Children’s Music Ministry resumes rehearsals this afternoon. If you have yet to join us, now is the time – 5:00 p.m. We’d like to do a musical this Spring, but we need you to do that!
A special thanks to our Worship Ministry Team for all they did to help us celebrate Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. Their dedication found them decorating and undecorating our worship areas, placing the poinsettias, and most importantly preparing the communion elements and candles for our Christmas Eve services and Sunday morning worship. We appreciate our Acolytes for their superb service as well.
As ever, keep your prayer list active! Indeed, we are a world in need!
Heartwarmer for the week: “In Rome many people maintain the custom of throwing something out the
window on New Year’s Eve. What a relief to get rid of every old resentment, every old fear, old prejudices, old notions, old ways of doing things.” (Norman Vincent Peale)

detalles.
Si mi esposa no me hubiera dado esas comidas, yo ahora estaría muerto." . . .

discipleship
missions and community outreach ministries
Discipleship is the practice of being a Christ-follower through worship, prayer, study and acts of compassion and justice found in
witness and service. We become disciples as we practice living out our lives through knowing, loving and serving God in the world.
Remember Your Baptism And Be Grateful!
“In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And
just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like
a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, ‘“You are my Son, the Beloved: with you I am well
pleased.” Mark 1:911
In the tradition of the greater Christian Church, today we remember and celebrate the Baptism of Our
Lord and we remember and celebrate our own baptism. Through Jesus’ baptism we are all united
together in Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection; through his baptism Jesus begins his work for
our salvation. As the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus so the Spirit descends on us. Through our
baptism we are adopted and incorporated into the family of faith and God can say of us, “You are my
beloved child.” And because Christ’s righteousness is imputed to us, God can say of us, “with you I am
well-pleased.” Baptism is recognition of God’s gracious love already at work in our lives. God’s grace
endures, and God’s promises are never broken.
Today we remember and reaffirm our baptismal vows and are grateful!
