FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TRIBECA FILM GEARS UP FOR THE REGIONAL RELEASE OF THE COMEDY *** THEATRICAL RELEASE KICKS OFF NOVEMBER 9 TH *** AVAILABLE ON DEMAND NATIONWIDE OCTOBER 24 TH 2012 November 6, 2012 – New York, NY – Tribeca Film is set to release American filmmaker Rick Alverson’s zealous new film The Comedy on November 9 th and nationwide On Demand October 24 th . Premiering at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, whilst amusing, The Comedy “is a masterpiece of observation.” The Comedy is your atypical comedic film – a dark comedy directed and co-written by Rick Alverson, and starring Tim Heidecker. With the expert use of sarcasm, Alverson does an incredible job detailing the misfortune of a culture coupled with the perils of entitlement. Film Threat says it is “by far one of the most widely inappropriate and pitch back comedies,” at the same time as Variety’s raves it’s “compulsively fascinating.” Alverson first made waves in conjunction with the independent label Jagjaguwar with a series of well-received featured films The Builder (2010) and New Jerusalem (2011). A provocative and loudmouthed drama, The Comedy makes sure the audience leaves with their jaws dropped, eyes wide, mind racing and one core critique … the realization of how hollow our realities really are. ‘THE COMEDY’ RELEASE DATES: Los Angeles November 9 Silent Movie Theater New York November 16 BAM Cinematek San Francisco November 23 Roxie Theater
