SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
The School holiday program has commenced and we welcome all kids to participate in the activities set out each day. There has been a huge participation especially with the setup of our jumping castle within the HI Community Centre being a key attraction. The Community Centre has been set up as the go to place for this school holiday season with various activities on offer simultaneously.
We need to remind parents and caregivers our Youth Officer is the only person who is present at these Shire coordinated activities. You should be mindful that there can be 10 or more kids attending these activities at any time and she is unable to give total supervision to all the kids that attend. We welcome kids of all ages to join in these activities unless age restrictions are imposed, however any child under the ages of 5 years old is required to have parental or caregiver supervision at all times should they wish to attend to any of the activities.
The Shire staff strive in providing the community with quality fun filled activities that engages kids in our community in active participation during school holiday programs, and we welcome your feedback for our school holiday program.

Recycle your Plastic Bottle Tops: Plastic bottle recycling can now handle recycling plastic bottle tops - keep the lids on. Better yet, switch to reusable glass or metal drinking bottles and skip the
plastic bottles all together.
Recycle Bins: Create designated holding "bins" for each type of recycled product and place in convenient locations in your
home/garage
Recycle Produce Labels: Fruit and vegetable labels can be recycled by sticking them on a recycleable plastic
container.
Help Launch Sustainable Packaging!: As a customer, you have enormous power to help launch the sustainable
packaging movement.
Recycling CDs and DVDs: Several CD, DVD (and Hard Drive) recycling
centers are now available.
Recycled Content: Ask your local retailers to stock more products made from recycled materials and buy products made from the highest recycled content
whenever possible.
Green Paper: When purchasing paper products (toilet paper, etc,), look for paper that has been recycled using a minimum of
50% post-consumer waste.
Composting: Start a compost pile with yard
trimmings and food scraps.
Compostable Produce Labels: Encourage your local health food store to switch to laser tattoos, dissovable labels or compostable
labels.

Quote of the Day
Make today ridiculously
amazing.
Thought for the Day
A guy is 86 years old and loves to fish. He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say, "Pick me up." He looked around and couldn't see any one. He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say again, "Pick me up." He looked in the water and there, floating on the top was a frog. The man said, "Are you talking to me?" The frog said, "Yes, I'm talking to you. Pick me up. Then, kiss me and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. I'll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous because you will have me as your bride." The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully, and placed it in his front breast pocket. Then the frog said, "What, are you nuts? Didn't you hear what I said? I said kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride." He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, "Nah, at my age I'd rather have a talking frog."

A COCOS MOMENT
This is the cooking team as part of our My Canteen Rules, the brainchild of Wendy Tempest - a healthy weekly canteen, where the CDP Participants from IOGTS and IOTHS nurse prepared and served Thursday
meals to promote healthy eating at home . The students were served a meal a week for the term and we sought feedback from them on taste, provided the take home recipe of the day and also got them to iden-tify the vegetables and fruits we served . It’s been a hit and we are hopeful to make this an ongoing thing!
