Design concept on semester 1 did not assist the viewers in understanding the design issue about, more or less they have been misleaded because lack of in-depth message n research about the consumerism and material culture.

Taking each object one by one and trying to break down all the values are pretty impossible things to do and does not relevant much for what i want to achieved and how can my project help the society in the future.

Decision in using “heart” and hard sell method of design won’t do well in letting people trully understand and ponder. The message shall be subtle and behave as self-reflective thinking for each individual.

My lecturer, Joselyn introduced me with one film called “ Supersize Me ”An example movie to let the viewers ponder by themselves without necessary to do hard-sell method in highlighting the issue.

From the 1st focus group, i asked the target audiences pretty cunning and confusing questions about my projects, the intentions, design hypothesis even the design issue. They assisted me alot in straighten my mind and rephrased my sentences in a better communication.

Not only that, the focus group essay made me realized about how mankind way of thinking towards NEEDS AND WANTS. In the beginning, my target audiences were pretty much sure about the difference between what was called NEEDS and what was so-called WANTS. However, along with the discussion they, themselves were no longer able to differentiate both NEEDS and WANTS when they start the topic od hobby.

Hobbies are one of many essential field that made every individual difference and unique identity. These hobbies are one of many factors to made mankind do a purchased. Hobbies are once again neither could be categorized in merely one compartment of NEEDS or WANTS. Hobbies made you feel happy while happy is one of the Value that made mankind want to purchased.

The 2nd focus group, discussed about how the consumers adn the creative

industry as the creator should decipher the validiy of value within everyday

objects. The intention of the discussion was trying to get a confirmation idea of using mass production / manufacturing process to make the significant role of

the object visible.

Here, i was introducing the concept of commodity value from business

perspective where, commodity value comes from the combination of human

resources and natural resources in every manufacturing process even from the

lowest level of farming and harvesting activities. The role of human, animal,

natural and mechanical engine are extremely important throught the porcess.

In addition, i did asked the target audience to ponder about the need to give special

priority to manufacturing process in doing its product advertising. Also, the idea of

endless needs and wants where mankind received everyday in life due to popular culture. Not to forget, i asked about the

need to find out the true good value from the everyday objects.

Even though the answers i received from the target audiences were half satisfied and half disappointed. However, looking from the bright side, i could observe the target audiences reactions in replying the answers. Most of them, did not quite get the thinkig on how to face all of these. The reason being were they were adapted to these lifestyle and take it as part of life. Observing the information that i have found made me pretty much sure about using the idea of manufacturing process to work on the design issue.

An intention of making an animation video however changed it into making

a game. The intention is to create an interactivity and engaged the viewers

to ponder and take action on their own. However, the design method is

not a success. Due to lack of potential to break through and find out the

best potential solution to simplify the information into a bigger picture.

Although the meaning of value cannot be solidly justified in mankind mind, the topic about true value exist in many different platforms and indeed very abstract to be comprehended and visible. Besides, in order to predict and define which compartment it belongs were extremely complicated to track back.

As a respected philosopher namely Aristotle was mentioned in a book called Aristotle’s metaphysics (2004), he asked himself to see about what being actually was. His intention was to understand the essence of being.

In foreseeing a clear relationship between the theoretical thought and the ways of life went through, it was at a developing stage where complex phenomenon were unjustifiable its compartment into single category.

This statement was deeply inspired from the book Buddhist Philosophy and Religion, where the author Prof. Permasiri (2006) stated Buddhism uncovered complex phenomenon on man history.

With above mentioned, definition of value belonged to everything as long as hu-mankind could perceive it. Self-reflection between own one individual and it’s surrounding to see the actual “Essence of being” in this society. Thus, the term visible is needed to ensure the open path of understanding of true value.

Moreover, he disclosed about Buddhism could not be justified into single compartment, either religion or Philosophy, as the Buddha foresaw a clear relationship between theoretical and practical ways of life . The idea of wheel of life inpsired the concept of red thread of fate.

The red thread of fate, also referred to as the red thread of destiny, red thread of fate, and other variants, is an East Asian belief originating from Chinese legend and is also used in Japanese legend. According to this myth, the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of those that are destined to be soul mates and will one day marry each other.

The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. This myth is similar to the Western concept of soulmates or a twin flame.

Roughly, everyone can capture the idea based on the words. Fate and Faith. The process on communication is the toughest job here to ensure others what exactly I want them to see from my project. Especially in making a simple yet powerful message in short conclusion.

But, sometimes am too afraid of myself being to reflective and

observant. I Am afraid to lose myself inside my mind and forgot about everyone and my surroundings.

Without understanding my surroundings. Without having a faith

to something or to someone else.

What would i become? Fragile . myself . is . what. i . recalled . in the past. I became

very sensitive and unable to embrace my surroundings. I was unable to develop

and progress further. and thats the time i ran back home for the closest human

relationship that i ever had.

They are my families. My parents and siblings. at that time, it was a “ Qing ming “ weeks where

in Chinese tradition, it was a weeks where people go to clean their ancestor tombs or grave yard. This is another tradition where family members

gathered and helping each other in cleaning the tomb. They said it was cleaning the tomb. But, the hidden meaning inside is, as the descendants, all

of us have to pay a respect for them. Without their existance, no one will be born too.

This is a continuous cycle for both spiritually and practically. That’s why i like philosophy so much. It

observes the Balance of Everything.

Through reflection, the nostalgic desire came to me through the memories and it driven me to realized about what my responsibilities are.

Every little details count to make connection works and the invisible cycle works. An order system that lies beneath all the chaotic connection.That is why i drove to the conclusion about using FAITH AND FATE.

And if we just followed our FAITH and accepted our situations. here read it as FATE, go through life. We are what we are now, and the philosophy has been practically used in daily life, if you noticed about all these connections.

Once again, i kept on telling myself that the concept of RedStrings basically came out of human interrelationship. With the research findings as the guideline to profound the idea where human and objects are 2 inseparable connections and these

attachments are incredibly intense to the point that without them. Human being are not in a place of living with high integration. And now many young generations lived in todays lifestyle. Many older generations kept on saying that young generations are

very lucky not to face so much difficulties and this is also what i called Fate. I myself did not have the ability to change it. All i can do are move forward and be gratittude. Because this cycle are programmed in this way. CHANGES HAPPENED.

In order to help me stay focus on the project. Most of the time, i do put myself in spiritutal

faith of my works and my religion. I told myself whatever happened to my work, i am

not going to regret it. I am leaving everything to FATE and the hand of GOD now.

Role in everything. Object as the message. Similar understanding from

Marshall McLuhan. However, am trying to expand and comprehend it deeper.

What i see, objects are also part of responsibility role of one individual. And

we often stop to the point of identifying the identity and most often, we forgot

about the responsibility role after identify the identity. If this understanding could

be comprehend and practically used in everyday life, we don’t have to hesistate

to break through difficulties in achieving our goals and our duties. And the world

REFLECTION

I am not a “Culture critic “ because i am not in any way interested in classifying cultural forms. I am a metaphysician in the life of the forms and their surprising modalities - from Marshall McLuhan.

The artist is the man in any field, scientific or humanistic, who grasps the implication of his actions and of new knowledge in his own times. He is the man of integral awareness

These two wisdom words from Marshall McLuhan are my support strength to highlight the importance of intelligence awareness towards the environment and the unseen connection knowledge - so called metaphysic. Thus, society could experience a better life by changing their way of seeing.

The invisible universal connection is something that we will never able to fully see it through the mere naked eyes. Evidence about the unnoticed connections can only be visible by the virtue of self experienced and felt by heart through one’s own Faith. Perceiving Faith and Fate are just part of big pictures of whole knowledge of humanity true value.
