Sunday Evening Worship in 2020 Our Sunday Evening Service has evolved into more of a Bible study,
discussion and communion. The service starts at 5:30 p.m., dress is
casual, and the service lasts approx. 30 minutes. Those that are
coming really love it.
If you are one that Sunday Morning Worship does not fit into your
schedule or it is not what you are looking for, please join us to see if the
evening service will be a better fit. We look forward to seeing everyone.
Anyone who would like to know more about
membership with Fayette First Christian Church,
making a public Confession of Faith or
Christian Baptism, is encouraged to contact
Pastor Stephen. He will be happy to schedule a
time to talk with you and answer any questions.
Needing Volunteers! We have many opportunities to volunteer at
First Christian Church. Please contact Lori in the office
if you would like to do any of the following:
Be on the Card Committee. You would bring cards about
4 times per year. It is such a great outreach project.
Volunteer on the Membership Committee. They sponsor
various events and organize fellowship dinners.
Join a Funeral Dinner team. We need people that are
available throughout the week to help.
Volunteer on the Property Committee. This work is being
done by the office and a couple of volunteers right now.
Work with the Children.
You could chair the Education Committee or volunteer to help
with Sunday School or Youth Group.
The Week of Compassion Each year in February, congre-
gations across the United
States and Canada collect a
special offering for Week of
Compassion. While many
congregations choose to collect their offering during
this designated week, the offering truly supports the
work of this ministry throughout the whole
year! Funds received through the offering allow the
Church to respond to disaster when it occurs,
enabling Week of Compassion to immediately provide
grants for urgent needs like emergency supplies,
water and food. Special Offering is a time when
congregations come together to lift up and celebrate
this important work that we do together.
Week of Compassion is in conversation with our
partners about the Coronavirus outbreak in China.
This is a health emergency, requiring immediate
attention. We are responding now to help provide
much-needed medical supplies-- particularly protec-
tive items for medical staff to prevent further spread
of the disease. We will remain in touch with our
partners and be prepared to offer support as further
needs become clear. Please be in prayer for all of
those affected by this illness, and those who are
caring for the sick.
One at a Time The story is told of a business man who was overworked and decided to take some time off. While vacationing on the coast, a terrible storm hit. When it died down, he decided to take a walk down the cost to see what damage had been done. As he walked along the shore, he noticed thousands of starfish which had washed upon the shore. He knew that in a few hours the sun would come out and the starfish would dry out and die. As he thought about the starfish, he noticed a young boy who was throwing the starfish back one by one. The man was amazed by the youth’s diligence and shocked by his feeble attempts to make a difference. As he looked up the long beach, he saw thousands of starfish. When he caught up with the young man, he informed the boy that he could not possible save them all and said to the little boy, “You’ll never be able to make a difference to the starfish population.” The boy bent down, picked up a starfish, looked at it, then threw it back into the safety of the ocean. Then he said, “I sure made a difference to that one.” We cannot personally make a difference in the lives of everyone that fills this world, but we can make a difference to a few of them. It is interesting that when Jesus spoke of those on His right hand on the Day of Judgment, he described them as having made a difference in the life of one person. He said, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matt. 25:40). I sincerely believe that each of us can make a difference in the life of someone. This is how Jesus worked—one at a time. Sure, He preached to thousands, but He visited with families, and helped individuals.
