Self-Categorizationistheprocesswhichtransformsindividualintogroup(HoggandAbrams19).Self-categorizationoccurswhenanindividualputhim/herselfinagroupasobjectthatcanbecategorizedorclassified,andnamedinacertainwayinrelationwithothercategoriesinthesocialenvironment.Therefore,“Peoplewhoaresimilartotheselfarecategorizedwiththeselfandlabelthein-groupwhilepeoplewhodifferfromtheselfarecategorizedastheout-group.”(Turner20).
Through self-categorization individual claims thathim/herself thathe/shehassimilarsocial identitywiththemembergroupandbehaveas inthecategorygroupmember. Consequently, self-categorization leads individual to accentuate thesimilarities between the self and other in-group members and accentuate thedifferences between the self and out group member (Hogg and Abrams 19). Theaccentuation occurs for all the attitudes, beliefs and values, affective reactions,
