Lieutenant Governor’s Address

Hopefully you’ve been able to start off

your service year with a bang, and as

we transition from a school mindset to a

summer mindset, I’d like to encourage

you to keep serving your communities

and engaging with Key Club. The district

has many ways for you to do just that,

whether it’s attending International Con-

vention in late June or enrolling in the

Community Food bank of New Jersey’s

Teen Hunger Institute on July 29th, we’ve

provided a myriad of avenues for you to

stay involved. Until then, enjoy the rest of

the year!

Hunterdon Central Key Club

Now that we have had our first meeting this

year, we would like to welcome all the new

members. Our club does many activities with

people to further you time in service. People

who are in need of us Key Clubbers reach out

to use and us officers bring it up on meetings

to make sure you have lots of different

choices of things you can do.

The President

I joined Key Club as a sophomore because I

honestly had no idea what it was about. Little

did I know at the time that I would turn out

loving to help others. That just kept progressing

and only a few years later and I was the

president of key club. Volunteering to help

others through key club and just in my own

time has become a steady part of my life. I

only need about five volunteer hours per

month, but I usually end up with about twenty

-five instead. It gives me the chance to help

others even when they are not asking for help,

including random acts of kindness. Sometimes

after school, I just stop by one of my teacher’s

classrooms and ask them if they need help

doing anything, it brightens their days and at

the same time, mine also.

The President

Key Club has also given me the opportunity to meet

new people that I never would have dreamed of

meeting. I find it really cool to be connected within a

network of schools in division 13 with us. It is a really

cool experience to get to meet our counterparts

from the other schools we work with. through key

club, I was also able to get a pen pal from Florida. It

is something that I find really cool and completely

recommend doing if you get the chance, you can

talk about key club and overall just meet someone

new from a different part of the country. You can

learn so many life lessons through this club, even if

you do not have an officer position. You can also

meet so many close friends, as I have over the past

few years and you keep in touch with them after

they graduate. I hope to continue the success of the

Hunterdon Central Key Club and that it will inspire

other Red Devils to fall in love with volunteering like I

had the opportunity to do.

Our Activities

Right now we have many things lined up for us to

do. We have been handing out UNICEF boxes

since our first meeting. We still have more so if

you are interested in raising some money for

UNICEF email one of the officers. We are also

collecting gently used shoes to give to people

who need them. We are also helping at Haunted

High School. The set up is on Friday, October 30

after school and help participate in the event on

October 31. We will also be helping to set up a

Halloween Party at Whitehouse School. It will be

on October 30 from 6pm to 8:30pm. These are

just some things we are doing right now in our

club.

New Jersey District

This is a very busy time for the district of

New Jersey. With Fall Rally coming up

we have lots to look forward to. It is a

fun event and every one always has a

great time. There will also be Key

Leader in December with people all

over the district . Our district project

continues to be helping out food banks

to help end hunger in our state. Our dis-

trict is always doing something and you

can keep up with them at the website.

Key Leader

Key Leader is a life changes event with the entire

New Jersey District. You go for a week end and

have a good time while learning how to be a

leader and how you can work with others more

efficiently. This year it is taking place at Cross

roads Camp on December 4 through December

6. It cost $175 and we need it in by November 20

so we can send everything in and make sure you

get to go. There is only room for so many people

to go to this event so the sooner you sign up the

better.

Key Club International

Guyana is the newest country to join

our Key Club family. They have al-

ready started working hard on their

very own project called GrowGIA!

Their project won a single service

award at convention this past spring.

They are showing the world what it

means to be a true Key Club country.
