The angelic announcement to shepherds in a Judean countryside changed human history. It rang out in the midst of the glory of the Lord. Hear it again, “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
This morning I will be preaching about joy. It’s the joy that energizes the soul. It’s the joy that settles the heart. The joy of the Lord is beyond the scope of mere human under-standing. I will remind us of the source of joy as well as the recovery of joy.
My prayer is that all of us will draw closer to Jesus and live in true joy.
Grace and peace,
Len
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is available to be served to any-one in our congregation who is home bound. Just call the church office and let us know of a convenient time. The pastors would be delighted to visit and worship with you.
Don't forget that we still have some of the personal invitations for worship services in December at Big Canoe Chapel. They are in Cousins Hall and in the narthex in the sanctuary. Take a few today and invite a friend.
This evening at 7:00, our Chapel Choir will present its 19th Annual Ser-vice of Lessons and Carols. This year’s Service is entitled “Wonderful Peace,” a title captured from the evening’s crowning anthem, “Wonderful Peace,” by Swedish composer Gustaf Nordqvist. The anthem begins, “Peace, peace, wonderful peace, peace to the world is given.” What a pow-erful and important message that is to remind our 21st Century fractured world that the only real peace we can have is the peace that Jesus the Christ brings, a peace that passes all our understanding. The anthem goes on to say, “Peace, peace, bearer of peace, those of good will receive Him.” This evening, our choir through its music invites all who hear to receive Jesus Christ, either for the first time, or to renew their faith in Him this Advent Season, receiving His Good Will and then sharing it.
O come let us adore Him, let us listen and respond to God’s Love in the Son Jesus.
From the Youth Ministry Team, This is a special time of year where we, as Christians, gather to rejoice in the birth of our Savior. This Wednes-day, December 13 from 6:00-8:00, we invite all middle school and high school students to join us for a special Christmas Party. Join us for this time of fellowship, games, and above all else, a time to remember why we are celebrating this season.
Thank you so much! Lindsey
