Every year, Chung Cheng High School
(Main) NPCC Unit holds its very own
camp in school. The theme for this
year’s camp was Fruits. Allowing
creativity to flow, every group made
their own group flags and the flags
represented their groups’ identities and
uniqueness. To make it more interesting,
each group also had to watch over the
flag closely and prevent it from being
taken away by any of the Cadet Leaders. This greatly heightened their sense of
responsibility and alertness.
This year’s camp was especially fun and meaningful with the introduction of
enrichment courses. The Secondary One and Four cadets participated in Archery
while the Secondary Two and Three cadets
went on to participate in the Marksman
Course.
Moreover, the Unit also went to East Coast
Park to conduct Beach Cleaning. This
activity is important and fulfilling as it
serves as a reminder to our cadets that we
should take care of the country’s
environment and also to always give back to
society.
On the second night of the
camp was the long-awaited and
exciting campfire! The
campfire has always been the
Unit’s tradition.
What’s a camp without
a campfire?
The entire Unit gathered
together and sang campfire
songs that gave the atmosphere
a lot of life. In addition, the groups also had special performances that they showcased
in front of the Unit. These wonderful performances were the highlights of the
campfire, and usually the source of laughter and surprise for all.
UNIT ANNUAL CAMP 2015
THE CCHMSNPCC TIMES ISSUE: JAN 2015 – MAR 2016
The Passing Out Parade is an event
held annually in Chung Cheng High
School (Main) NPCC Unit. It is to
acknowledge the efforts and
commitment of the Secondary Four
graduating cadets. The parade marks
the completion of service to NPCC of
26 Cadet Leaders from the 51st Cadet
Leaders’ Committee, thus welcoming
the new batch of Cadet Leaders from
the Secondary Three Squad. This
year, the Passing Out Parade was
held on the 30th of May 2015.
The 52nd Cadet Leader Investiture was
held afterwards to display the various
appointments that the new batch of Cadet
Leaders have. These appointments were
careful decisions made as they are very
important for the Unit’s efficiency and
they affect the way the Unit is run. With
the support of every member in the squad,
the 52nd Cadet Leader Committee will
bring the Unit to soar to greater heights!
Moreover, during the Performance
segment of the event, a video
montage was played. The video
montage displayed the NPCC
journey that the 51st Batch had
embarked on since Day one as
NPCC cadets. These four years of
amazing experiences molded them
to be great leaders and the precious
memories that they have created
together shall not be forgotten.

AREA 11 ATC / STC 2015
On the 21st of August, the
Secondary Three Squad
and the CL Squad went for
their ATC/STC
respectively. The camp was
held in Camp Resilience,
Pulau Ubin. The theme of
the camp was Superheroes
for ATC and Elements for
STC.
The cadets were split into different groups in camp with cadets from other schools.
They have learnt many new skills in camp such as kayaking for the Secondary Three
Squad and outdoor cooking for the CL Squad. They had opportunities to bond with
fellow cadets from Area 11, and learnt to have greater teamwork between them.
Activities such as pioneering and orienteering reinforced greater leadership skills for
the Cadet Leaders.
The Secondary Three cadets all
showed great enthusiasm
throughout the camp even though
they were in a foreign
environment, which had required
them to sleep in tents at night.
The aim of the camp was to train
the cadets to become more
responsible and to be more
resilient, which the cadets all
strived for.
On the last night of the camp, the campfire that was organised by the selected CLs
from each squad was carried out with great success! The atmosphere was lifted and
enhanced by the Group Instructors who sang pop songs during the campfire. Each
group had their own performances that were well prepared, resulting in cheers and
applause that filled the air.
We are proud to announce that our cadet, S/Sgt (NPCC) Sarah Jaslin Lee, has
achieved the Best Camper Award for two consecutive years, good job!

SECONDARY 1 SWEARING-IN CEREMONY 2016
The Secondary One Swearing-in
Ceremony was held in Chung Cheng
High School (Main) where all
Secondary One cadets across Area
11 gathered together in the Lecture
Theatre. They were introduced to the
NPCC history and also the wide
array of badges that they can achieve
during their four years here in
NPCC. These cadets have shown the
Corps their promised dedication and
commitment by swearing in and we hope that they will have a fruitful and fun-filled
journey here.
AREA 11 GAMES DAY 2016
The Area 11 Games Day is held
annually after the Swearing-In
Ceremony for the Secondary Ones to
allow them to feel welcomed to our
NPCC family. This year, the venue of
this memorable event is once again in
our school. We, as the host, are proud to
announce its success and hope for future
cadets to enjoy the lively atmosphere
during this games event. Although we were the host of this event, we could not have
done this without the help of Broadrick Secondary school, Tanjong Katong Girls’
School, Tanjong Katong Secondary School, St. Patrick’s School and Victoria School
for hosting their respective game stations and the individual schools that came to play
the games. A shout-out to the Overall Champion, Victoria School, for being able to
outwit the games of each station and finally stand at the top this year.
I hope the Secondary Ones have enjoyed this event and that
they would encourage their future juniors to come and
experience this once-in-a-NPCC-life experience.
Sgt (NPCC) Dominique Lee Hao Jun
It is my hope that this day would help them develop a
passion for NPCC and kick start their exciting journey here.

FORMER COMBINED OPERATIONS ROOM
EXHIBITION 2015
A group of 20 cadets from Chung Cheng High
School (Main) NPCC Unit went for the
exhibition. In the heart of Chinatown lies the
former police bunker where 999 calls in
Singapore were once answered and where the
police managed their operations and
communications.
It was definitely an eye-opener for these cadets
while they were guided around in the exhibition.
This Combined Operations Room served as the
nerve centre for communications in the police
force from 1956 to 1988.
The tour guides were all very friendly and
approachable. Moreover, they often urged us to ask
questions along the way to find out more about the
Former Combined Operations. Our cadets greatly
enjoyed this trip and did not regret volunteering to
participate.
They left the exhibition not only with widened
knowledge but also a closer connection to the Corps as
the exhibits displayed there were all in relation to
NPCC, one way or another.

WELCOME PARTY 2016
The Secondary One Welcome Party was held on the 28th of February where the new
cadets were given the opportunity to bond with their Unit mates. The activity was
organised by the Cadet Leader Trainees where it began with the Annual General
Meeting. Our Teacher Officer, Mr Yeoh, gave his speech on the goals he has set for
the Unit and announced his retirement as the OC for the Unit, allowing the new OC,
Miss Lim, to succeed him. We would like to thank Mr Yeoh for being a caring and
responsible OC and for his greatly appreciated contributions to the Unit.
Thank you, Sir!
The cadets were then split into groups to play the games that were organised by the
CLTs. The games included a game of Running Man and a water balloon fight. The
cadets had a whale of a time playing the games and were more bonded after the event.
The event ended with a high note where all the cadets left with smiles on their faces.
The Welcome Party was a success and had met its aim of a bonding activity. Great
work CLTs!

NPCC INTER-UNIT CAMPCRAFT COMPETITION 2016
The NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition is held once every two years. This year,
the CCHS(M) NPCC Unit Campcraft Competition Boys and Girls teams, led by
SI (NPCC) Sng Ming Xian and SI (NPCC) Wong Yoke Ling, Noelle respectively,
were ever-ready to compete in the Preliminary Round held on 23 January 2016 and 30
January 2016. Two months of intensive training geared the teams up to complete their
sequences within 10 minutes for the boys and 12 minutes for the girls. The sequence
included the pitching of a tent, the raising of a flagstaff and the tying of a gadget.
Only the top 10 teams from each category could qualify for Finals.
It has been 12 years ever since the Unit
had qualified for the Finals and we are
proud to announce that the Girls’ Team
managed to qualify for the Finals. The
NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition
2016 Finals was held on 27th February
2016.
There was an added Special Component,
a surprise element, in this round that
tested the competitors’ abilities to adapt
to changes under stressful environments.
After much determination and
perseverance, the girls were able to clinch
an Overall 8th position!
The Unit stands proud of this
achievement as we recognize that it was
not an easy feat to have come this far.
Three months of blood, sweat and tears
only made the teams better and the bonds
that have been forged throughout the course of the competition pushed and drove the
competitors to do their best.

UNIT ANNUAL CAMP 2016
During this year’s camp, the theme was ‘Superheroes’. Superheroes have their own
distinctive characteristics and desirable traits for the cadets to learn from. Superheroes
“Preserve the Peace” and “Uphold the Law” for the greater good, and hence exhibits
NPCC values, bringing the cadets closer to the beliefs of the Corps. The groups were -
Baymax, Hawkeye, Super Mario, Flash, Thor and Quicksilver.
There were games and activities
planned by the CL Squad and
organized by the Teachers to engage
cadets and get them to bond with
their group mates. Such are Rock-
Climbing for Upper Secondary
Cadets, and Marksman Course for
Lower Secondary Cadets. The games
included Escape Room, Stick
Acquisition and Dodgeball. The
cadets enjoyed the games planned
for them. Having their first NPCC Camp was also an eye-opener for Secondary One
Cadets, as they slept in classrooms with their companions from different squads,
experienced night fire drill, cooked instant noodles using mess tins and ate canned
food.
THE CCHMSNPCC TIMES ISSUE: JAN 2015 – MAR 2016
There was also the Campfire on the
final night where all groups
performed for the audience. Our ex-
CLs even came back to celebrate
the occasion as one NPCC Family.
The performances were very
different and unique to each group
this time as many of them tried to
express the characteristics displayed
by the respective superheroes
through their performances.
Overall, the cadets forged new friendships with other cadets from squads of different
levels. They also gained new experiences that were memorable and part of their
NPCC journey. It was a fun, enriching and unforgettable camp for all.
Albeit a tiring camp, but at the end of it all I hope we all
learnt something, if not at least improved on what could have
been improved about ourselves. Most importantly, I’m glad
that all of us had an enjoyable camp, and discovered more
about our squads, the Unit and ourselves.
S/Sgt (NPCC) Nigel Soh Wai Zer
In this year’s Unit Annual Camp, I’m extremely glad to see
cadets enjoying themselves and learning from one another
during the various games and even during outdoor cooking. Be
it the Secondary Ones or the CLTs, all of them have put in so
much effort throughout the tw0 days. It was definitely an
experience I would never forget.
S/Sgt (NPCC) Sarah Jaslin Lee
The annual campfire has been a very pleasant and meaningful
event. Though there were some hiccups during the event, we
still managed to pull it off, thanks to the efforts of the
whole squad, and I experienced what it is like to organize an
event.

HIGH ROPE CHALLENGE 2016
This is the final year that the HRC
will be organised for every
Secondary Four and Five NPCC
cadets. CCHS(M) NPCC Unit’s
52nd CL Squad went to Camp
Resilience for the last time in their
NPCC journey to participate in the
course. It lasted for half a day, and
consisted of five sections. Five
other schools from Area 11 also
went on the same day - Broadrick
Secondary School, Tanjong
Katong Girls’ School, Tanjong Katong Secondary School, St. Patrick’s School and
Victoria School.
Advanced Rope Challenge The Advanced Rope Challenge consisted of
two variations. Each had different obstacles
suspended in mid-air, where cadets had to
find their way across three sections in order
to complete the course. This section of HRC
was indeed challenging to the CLs, however
they managed to make commendable
attempts to finish the course, while most
even finished the whole course.
I learnt the importance of teamwork in the dark tunnel,
where we relied on trust and coordination to complete the
challenge, which is similar to how we managed to finish our
NPCC journey. S/Sgt (NPCC) Tay JiaKang Mila
THE CCHMSNPCC TIMES ISSUE: JAN 2015 – MAR 2016
Dangle Duo
For this section, cadets had to climb up horizontally suspended logs in pairs. The
main aim was to get to the third log at the very least, with both cadets assisting each
other. The teamwork shown by our cadets were indeed commendable, as one pulled
the other up log by log. This section required great amounts of arm strength too.
Pamper Pole
Cadets had to climb up a pole with
hand rails up to its peak, stand on the
top platform, then jump and
successfully grab the trapeze hanging
in front of them. The challenging
part was to have confidence in
oneself by standing up on the tall
platform, then making a jump to grab
the trapeze. The biggest challenge of
it all was to ensure that the pole
stayed still and not wobble. Our cadets performed well as they showed courage and
determination in completing this challenge.
Double Flying-Fox
This was the highlight of the HRC.
Cadets had to descend from an 8-
storey high tower down a zip-line in
this section. After which, they were
assisted down to the ground with a
trolley. All our cadet leaders went at
least once for this section, with most
even trying it twice. What was said
to be the scariest experience was the
initial drop from the building,
causing one to be breathless. Nevertheless, the Cadet Leaders enjoyed the experience,
especially the adrenaline rush that overwhelmed them as they descended.
THE CCHMSNPCC TIMES ISSUE: JAN 2015 – MAR 2016
Tunneling
Cadets had to go into a tunnel, crawl
through the darkness and emerge out at
the other end. There were challenges
issued to them, such as time limit,
finding coloured balls in the tunnel,
and arranging themselves in a line
according to their birthdays inside the
pitch-dark tunnel. Communication and
teamwork was vital in this section, and
while it did not have any high
elements, it was enjoyable as well.

SPF-NPCC BADGE PRESENTATION CEREMONY 2016
Held annually, the SPF-NPCC Badge Ceremony aims to give recognition to
outstanding cadets across the nation who had contributed significantly to their Units
and possessed good leadership qualities. Our Unit, CCHS(M) NPCC, is proud to
announce that five of our Cadet Leaders have achieved this award and brought pride
to the Unit. They are, in no order of merit:
SI (NPCC) Sng Ming Xian
SI (NPCC) Wong Yoke Ling, Noelle
S/Sgt (NPCC) Celine Tay Shi Qing
S/Sgt (NPCC) Ong Chuan Kai
S/Sgt (NPCC) Tay JiaKang Mila
The event commenced at 7pm in
Home Team Academy, Harmony
Hall. It was graced by the Guest-Of-
Honour, Mr Hoong Wee Teck,
Commissioner of Police, Singapore Police Force. New friendships were forged
amongst award recipients as they interacted with each other during the event. Many
pictures were also taken to remember the grand occasion.
We would also like to thank all Teacher Officers, Honorary Officers, Cadet
Inspectors, for their support in nurturing the Cadet Leaders into who they are today,
and providing advice and guidance throughout their NPCC journey. Their success
would not have materialised today into this award if not for them!
Once again, well done to all five of our
Cadet Leaders who achieved this
marvellous feat and we hope to see
following batches of Cadet Leaders
continue to do well and achieve good
results!
I feel accomplished, having
finally achieved this award
that I would never have
dreamt of getting in my
earlier life in NPCC. It was
a memorable night as all 162
award recipients celebrated
the occasion with each
other. The atmosphere was
high as everyone was excited
to receive the badge, under
the eyes of their parents,
Teacher Officers, and other
cadets. Congratulations to
my other squadmates who
received the award as well,
and I hope we continue to
bring pride to CCHMSNPCC
Unit!
