The university brass felt like Kentucky's program had to improve when the Wildcats moved to Commonwealth Stadium if they were going to be able to pay off the mortgage. They needn't have worried. Kentucky's program has improved since the move from old Stoll Field but going into this season the 'Cats were playing only just a little better than 500-ball. 41 wins, 37 losses and 1 tie. Still, you pack the place. Coach Fran Curci, in his speeches around the gtate, likes to compare the Kentucky program to those at Arkansas and Nebraska. His contention is" that, like the other two, Kentucky'is a state that is basically interestqd'in one team. .He's right. You have given the Wildcats your total support. Arkansas and Nebraska have powerful football programs and in most seasons, both will be ranked among * the nation's major powers. It's easy for them to get statewide support.
