Mission statement:

"To expose American society to the life-changing value of national community service through immersion and travel in hopes of inspiring a more benevolent future."

program overview: TThe Call to Serve is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching young adults the power of public service through local and national service trips. Partnering with a variety of organiza-tions, volunteers from the Call to Serve (CTS) provide service to those in need. Founded by Adam Kunes and Andrew Blythe, The Call to Serve welcomes all volunteers ready to make a difference in the lives of others.

Service trips offered by CTS provides a unique opportunity for college-aged students to devel-op new insights into their own historical and global awareness and act upon those insights in-spiring them to become productive and compassionate citizens of the world.

Vision Statement:

"to be recognized and respected as one of the premier volunteer organizations in the united states."

a year in review: from the director

Where do I even begin?

The idea for The Call to Serve was had in October of 2008. We set out with one mission, take an RV across the country and serve

those in need. It took all of seven months to accomplish this mission. From selling the idea, to raising enough money to buy an RV; many

trials were faced. The pact that Andrew and I made in 2008 was all that mattered to us. It kept us going when people said we were

crazy or that we were re-inventing the wheel. Had we not followed our hearts, we would not be where we are today.

We accomplished what we set out to do. 30 days, 7,500 miles, 1 broken transmission, many people helped. A common theme from the

trip was an older generation surprised to see young people giving of themselves for a month of service. Returning home with a new per-

spective on what is important and how our generation is perceived, we began to ask ourselves how The Call to Serve can offer the same

experience to other young people.

With a documentary on the way, our plan is to promote The Call to Serve at college campuses across Western Pennsylvania. Our hope

is that others will be inspired to seRVe. We truly cannot thank all of those who believed in our mission from the beginning. Your

support, thoughts, and prayers have made all the difference. We look forward to the future of The Call to Serve.

Thank You, Adam Kunes Executive Director

how we seRVed: pictured below is our vehicle for change. iit's a 1991 ford winnebago. We bought this for $6500. it needed a few minor repairs. our

mechanic, herky donated his time and a few parts to get the warrior road worthy. we

put over 7,500 miles on this rv in 30 days. our only major problem occured when the

tranmission decided to give out 10 hours from pittsburgh. we made it home safely by

manually shifting gears. with a new transmission, the warrior is definitely road

worthy now.

From a financial standpoint, 2009 was a building year for us. our main goal was to raise enough money to make the trip happen.

we received our 501(c)(3) status in june of 2009 after fundraising efforts were finished for the initial trip.

on this on this page you will find our revenue breakdown and expenses.
