MUSIC/BAND @ KLEEFELD SCHOOL GRADE 8 BAND TRIP The grade 8 band trip to Edmonton was, once again, a highlight of Kleefeld School’s music program. Students have the opportunity to be exposed to small group lessons and whole band instruction. Additionally, students have the opportunity to bond and create memories as they travel together and experience a variety of activities in the fine city of Ed-

monton. Thank you to our Band Boosters who work very hard to make this trip possible. Thank you to our supervisors and chaperones. Thank you parents for your support. Final Spring Concert The grade 7 and grade 8 bands will be playing their final concert on Thursday, June 8 @ 7:00 in the Kleefeld School gym. Please come and witness the excellent musical skills our bands have developed this year. Grade 7/8 Band in 2017-18 All students in grades 7 and 8 are expected to be a part of our band program. There are no other class options offered at the same time as band class. Also, Mrs. Hiebert, our band instructor, works to ensure that every student is included and has a suitable instrument. The expectation is that each student will select an instrument and be a part of the group. Please direct any inquiries to Y. Schroeder or J. Bergen. If finances are a concern, please see Y. LIBRARY NEWS With the addition of 776 new books to the library and with more coming in, it’s been a phenomenal year!!! The newest ‘Field

& Stream: The Essential Fishing Handbook’, ‘Game on!: World-Building Games’, ‘Star Wars: Ships of the Galaxy’, ‘Vikings’ and ‘War Dogs’ are a few of the new non fiction books due out on the shelves in June. David Baldacci’s ‘The Finisher’, Peter Jay Black’s ‘Urban Outlaws’ and Ed Masessa’s ‘Wandmaker’ will take readers on a fantastic adventure. Brandon Sanderson’s three series, ‘Steelheart’, Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians’ and ‘The Rithmatist’ will be an incredible extension to our fantasy section. Our younger readers will enjoy ‘Princess Grace’ by Mary Hoff-man, ‘Lego Nexo Knights: The Knight’s Code Training Guide’, ‘I Have the Right to be a Child’ by Alain Serres and the ‘Sparkle Town Fairies’ by Sarah Creese. So many new authors and series to enjoy! The 2017 MYRCA winner will be revealed at the final MYRCA meeting of the year. It will be held in the library on Tuesday, June 6. All student library books will be due on June 13 for the year. Library Inventory will be on June 14, 15 and 16. The library will be closed on those days. To encourage your child to read throughout the summer holidays, Kleefeld School is once again offering the Summer Reading Program. Reading during the summer will help your child practice and maintain the reading skills learned during this school year. Students from K to Grade are eligible for the reading program. Permission Letters can be picked up in the library starting the week of June 19th. Books will be available for pick-up by the students and their fam-ilies from June 20-23 and June 26-28. All books will need to be returned the week before school commences in September.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our students, parents, friends, family, community

GR. 8 FAREWELL The grade 8 farewell will be held at the Neufeld Garage, on Monday, June 26. Supper is at 6:00 (doors open at 5:30). The supper is free for the students and $10 for each parent. Tickets can be pur-chased at the school office until June 16. Following the supper there will be a short program featuring student and teacher presenters. After the meal, the grade 8 student farewell party will be from 8:00 to 11:00 PM. Activities include games such as shuffleboard and billiards, a candy bar and a musicman.
