1. Patient EducationNo business discussion would be complete without an emphasis on the patient experience for your patients. Satisfied patients tell their friends and family. We want to maximize this for your practice with lots of tools and ideas to create extraordinary patient relationships that matter both to you and your patients.

2. Medical LegalThere are many obstacles to consider when picking a business model that works best for your type of practice. Whatever you choose we want you to set it up in a legal framework that protects you and your practice

What legal and liability issues do I need to be concerned about?Walk through the pitfalls with an experienced healthcare attorney.

3. Business OperationsBusiness Start-up and/or a practice transition is never an easy endeavor especially if running a business was one of the last things you thought you’d be doing. Hear from some business and consulting groups and make sure you’re in the know for basic business practices. In addition we’ve assemble a faculty of physicians who have made the transition, hear their story and learn what worked, what didn’t, and why.

4. MarketingWe like to believe that once you open your doors patients will come but often times there needs to be a little push. We’ll try to make it easy and straightforward but there are some things you can do to grow your practice. Practical tools to go home with and easily implement, that is our goal

Teaching FacultyJames J. Eischen Jr., JDFaculty ChairmanJim Eischen is a California attorney with nearly 30 years of experience representing clients in matters involving business planning, healthcare, privacy, licensing, and regulatory issues (including Medicare compliance, physician compensation, and private direct fee business modeling and compliance). His practice encompasses life science companies integrating physician healthcare models via Management Services Organization (MSO) structures, navigating the corporate practice of medicine, and related compliance issues. He advises clients in matters connected to reimbursement, contracts, interdisciplinary health professional employment and labor issues, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. Jim has done credentialing work for physician independent practice associations (IPAs). He has experience structuring physician practice purchase and employment structures, and assisting companies delivering wellness products or programs, to ensure reimbursement and privacy compliance. Jim is a national authority on structuring consumer/patient financial contribution and reimbursement models for private/concierge medical groups and healthcare IT product developers to achieve federal legal compliance. He has worked as a consultant/founder with medical groups, electronic health record software firms, cardiovascular testing and health coaching enterprises, and venture capital groups exploring healthcare opportunities. Jim also provides preliminary guidance on practice formation options

Megan Burraston, EDACEvidence-Based DesignMegan Burraston has been a top performer with Steelcase, Inc. for 15 years. For the past 8 years her focus has been working with major non-profit and healthcare clients in Utah, Colorado and Arizona. Megan is EDAC accredited (Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification) and thrives on partnering and consulting with her clients to promote innovative environments, generate cost savings and maximize space utilization.

Mike Clark, MBA, JD, Ph.D.Consultant and EntrepreneurMike Clark is the founder of Seeking Perfect Health and co-founder of the Natural Bio Health Clinics where he created one of the first bioidentical hormone and functional medicine clinics. He served as the Director Education and Research at the clinics for seventeen year, developing the hormone practice and subsequently the weight loss and gastrointestinal health practices. He built and subsequently sold five bioidentical hormone and medical weight loss clinics beginning in 2001 - 2015.

He has a Doctorate degree in Natural Medicine, has been designated a Health Practitioners Diplomat in the Clinical Science of Anti-Aging, and a Fellow and Advanced Fellow of Anti-Aging, Regenerative & Functional Medicine. He has been certified by the Amen Clinic and is a GX Sciences Trained Provider.

Andre Etherly, MSTechnology Specialist / Practice ConsultantAndre Etherly is a consultant and entrepreneur focused on enabling Integrative Medical Practitioners to succeed by applying the sciences of technology and business into medical practice models. He has helped numerous integrative practices, many from initial startup, with projects that have included Business Plans, Marketing Analysis, Competitive Analysis, Practice Design (Fee for Service, Concierge, Hybrid), and numerous others.

Andre received a BA in Business Administration from Michigan State University and a MS in Information Systems Technology from George Washington University. Mr. Etherly’s Capstone Project focused on leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes and lower costs. Much of his work since that point has been focused on that objective.

For the past three years, Steve has been answering a call to create educational materials to help women in menopause gain clarity and confidence about optimal hormones.
