THE BOLDEST PRAYER EVER PRAYED (Joshua 10:12-14)

The Bible app I use daily has added a real time counter of installs.

They were close to 500,000,000 installs, and they were celebrating

the countdown to this impressive number. The counter is still there,

and it grows at a rate of over 100,000 installs a day! One of the pod-

casts I listen to (“Bible Study Podcast” with Wes McAdams and Travis

Pauley) mentioned that “Christianity” is growing worldwide and es-

pecially in areas where it does not align with political protection or

values. Iran, for instance, is said to have over 1,000,000 Christians! I

found this all to be fascinating. There is a lot of misinformation on the

Bible app. The devotionals I read there are often good, but like with

anything we read, I must use my own discernment as to what I am

reading. I wonder how many of these millions of “Christians” are our

brothers and sisters? How many will attain the promise of heaven

when this life is over? Have they heard the truth? Are they following

false doctrine blindly? As I pondered these questions (and others),

my mind went to Paul’s words in Philippians 1:15-18. There are many

places that Paul (and others) focus on the false teacher, but in this

passage, Paul’s implication lands on the hearer – in that day and now,

you and me. I would say it comes down to personal responsibility. All

the millions of downloads don’t matter if we are not studying the

content. The false doctrine that is offered is also countered by the

text itself, if we are reading God’s Word and not just taking

someone’s word for it. I am so grateful for God’s patience with me

and allowing me time to grow in my devotion, knowledge, under-

standing, and application. I’m grateful He is still patient with me to-

day. I pray that you are growing in your love and service to the Word.

attack on Tuesday and is in Integris OKC awaiting a heart transplant. He is 46 years old.
