Itis because o your talent, muscle and support thatHabitat or Humanity Greater Vancouver was ableto achieve so much this year. Te year has beenoverflowing with incredible accomplishments thatwould not have been possible without the ongoingpartnerships o our community. Our mission topromote homeownership as a means to end the cycleo poverty is only achievable through meaninguland mutually beneficial partnerships with others.

    November 18th marked the launch o ourfirst annual Women Build campaign, PowerWomen Power ools. Afer months oplanning, the evening was a great success.Many thanks to those who came to supportthe work we do and our initiative: to rally400 women to help build twelve homes overten days on our Richmond build site comespring 2015. Over 200 guests and mediapersonalities filled the Pacific Ballroom atTe Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, allowing usto showcase our upcoming build and how wecreate communities, one home at a time.

    Women Build puts women at the oreronto social change and charitable giving right

    here in Greater Vancouver. Our goal? o rais$500,000, and put it towards building morHabitat homes or our Partner Families. Withthe support o our Women Build ambassador(Premier Christy Clark, the HonourablLinda Reid (MLA, Speaker o the House), JilSchnarr, Jillian Harris, Jan Rice, Norma ReidMonica Moretto, Dianne Watts, Fiona ForbesKerry Sauriol and Jill Amery), we are confidenwe will reach our undraising target. o date,we have raised over $145,000 with the generousupport o sponsors, community partnersdonors and 27 participants who have eachcommitted to raising over $2,500 each, makingthem official Pink Hard Hat Clubmembers.

    e Habitat homeownership model is simple. We remove amiliesom uncertain rental situations where 50 to 70 percent o theircome ofen goes to shelter costs, and provide them with stablee homes. Teir monthly interest-ree mortgage payments areed at 30 percent o their household income, indexed annually,

    ving amilies hope and security while allowing them to saved build upon their own successes.

    OW WE PICK OUR PARTNER FAMILIES

    Tis year a Partner Familymoved out o a Habitat home and intothe traditional mortgage system. As a Habitat Partner Family,mortgage payments are banked as equity, and upon movingout, are given back to the amily to invest in their uture. Tathome then comes back to Habitat, allowing us to house anotherdeserving amily and continue to give a hand up and not a handout to those in need.

    Habitat or Humanity Greater Vancouver currently providessae and affordable homes to thirty-one amilies in Burnabyand Vancouverwith orty-five children on a path to succeedin lie. In 2015, our Richmond homes will welcome twelve morePartner Familiesto our Habitat amily.

    We are currently accepting family applications. If you or someone you know would benefit from a Habitat home, pleasefill out a pre-screening form at habitatgv.ca.

    Since August 2013, Habitat or Humanity Greater Vanpartnered with the YMCA Summer Exchange and YouWork Programs, Experience Education and the VancouBoard to provide work experience placements or students. Youth ages sixteen to thirty work in our societwell as in our ReStores, to learn valuable skill sets. o dathad the pleasure o hiring our o our interns, as we cowork alongside our community partners in offering emexperiences locally.

    While Black Friday and Cyber Monday kicked off thshopping renzy, Givinguesdayopened the season oDecember 2nd. In support o this international campaigback, we threw a big sale at all three o our ReStore(rom Dec 24) and called it the Tree Days of GivinAll stock was 35% off.

    Tanks to the support o Shaw Vs Fiona Forbes and comembers, our stores were buzzing and we experiencincrease in sales, all o which will go towards un

    operations and building more homes, aster.

    HABITAT GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUN

    ReStores are Habitats social enterprise arm; they sell donatednew and gently-used home dcor items and building supplies at50 to 80% off retail. Tink urniture, bathroom fixtures, kitchenappliancesto flooring, lumber and everything in between.

    ReStores are Vancouvers hidden gem. All revenue rom ourReStore sales covers Habitats operational costs, and contributesto building local homes in our community. Visit one o our threelocations in Greater Vancouver, and everyone wins!

    Big news on the ReStore front! In early 2015 we are opening ourfourth ReStore location in Burnaby at 7977 Enterprise Street.Tis will also be the new home of our societys office and ourdistribution centre. Te latter will help to streamline our businessmodel and expand our ReStore operations. We are adding newdepartments to our ReStores and will be accepting sporting goods,entertainment equipment, music, gardening, pet, housewares andbook items. With more space, we will kindly accept your donations

    with open arms!ReStores are environmentally riendly. Our locations divert over600 tonnes o useable material per store rom our landfills everyyear. Recently, we partnered with ContainerWest, who has kindlydonated the use o its containers at three Greater Vancouvertranser stations. Tis green initiative will reduce waste in ourlandfills and inorm the public at large that recyclable productscan be donated and sold at our ReStores rather than thrown away.

    In the same vein, ReStores recycle anything metal. Tey will alsocome and pick up salvaged items (in good condition) rom yourlatest renovations.

    As a mainly volunteer-run organization, we owe much o our successto our volunteers! On October 6th, World Habitat Day, we celebratedthose who have made our homes, ReStores and events possible.

    Since we began in 1995, our volunteers have banked over 65,000hours. Tats the equivalent o 31 annual ull-time employeesNo wonder we are so appreciative! With over 670 dedicated
