The CYCLOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is an active-ingredient encapsulating system created with an inclusion compound between cyclodextrin (the host molecule) and a active ingredient (the guest molecule).

The LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is a patented system of complexation of active ingredients with phospholipids. It rapidly enables liposomes which have high encapsulation efficiency and are titrated in phospholipids and active ingredient to be obtained.

Three-dimensional Cyclodextrin structure

Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides obtained via molecular hydrolysis of starch using the enzyme Cyclodextrin glycosyl transferase (CGT); they can therefore be considered biotechnological products deriving from entirely plant-based raw materials.

Cyclodextrin molecules, due to the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds, arrange themselves in space to form a rigid toroidal structure with a central cavity which can host a wide variety of active molecules.

The active molecule is totally or partiallyencapsulated in the cavity of the host molecule, without significantly altering its structure. It is therefore isolated from the external environment and protected from degradation and oxidative processes which may damage it.

Inclusion occurs in a reversible fashion and this gives the CYCLOSYSTEM COMPLEX®

precise “controlled release” properties, which contribute to improving and increasing the life and availability of the active ingredient.

Such characteristics make the CYCLOSYSTEM COMPLEX® an ideal delivery system for active ingredients which require prolonged action over time and for molecules which can cause irritation if they come into direct contact with the skin.

Phospholipids are amphipathic molecules made up of esterified glycerol with two fatty acids chains and with a phosphate group bound to a small compound, usually choline, serine, ethanolamine or inositol.

They are thus characterised by the presence of a hydrophilic head and two hydrophobic tails.

The LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is based upon the idea of forming a complex between the active ingredient and the phospholipids before assembling them into a liposome.

Depending on whether it has a hydrophilic or hydrophobic nature, and under the right conditions, the active ingredient will be attracted, through electrostatic interaction (Van der Waals force), to the corresponding portion of the phospholipids.

Once the active ingredient is captured and complexed with the phospholipids, it is totally integrated into the end liposome.The complex behaves as a sufficiently stable unit, in which the active component is firmly held by the phospholipids in the liposomal membrane and its spontaneous release is negligible.
