Principal’s Introductory Remarks
The meeting started with welcome note by the Principal, Dr.Fr. John P J. He shared
that Dr Rasmeet Kaur was appointed as the State Nodal Officer and Resource Person
for Student Satisfaction Survey to be conducted at National Level by NIEPA.The
Principal also asked Ms Sheena Thomas (HOD, Education) to update about the Bridge
Course conducted. After the update, the Chairperson asked the coordinator of IQAC to
proceed with the meeting.
Item 01 – Passing the minutes of the meeting held on 8 May, 2018
The minutes were read by the coordinator. Mr Zeeshan A. Siddiqui proposed to approve
the minutes of the meeting and Dr Supriya Mandloi seconded the proposal. Thus,
minutes of the previous meeting of IQAC was approved.
Item No: 2 Update on AQAR submission to NAAC
The Coordinator informed the forum that AQAR 2017-18 was submitted on 13
December 2018 and also received the acknowledgement from NAAC on 17 December
2018. She also update that from the academic year 2018-19, the AQAR submission will
be online with a new format as mentioned on the NAAC website.
Item No: 3 Initiatives taken by IQAC for Quality Enhancement
The coordinator Explained about the various initiatives taken by IQAC for quality
enhancement in collaboration with various cells/committees.
1. Session on Intellectual Property Rights
2. Facilitated the NIRF Participation and Participation in the India Today Ranking
3. Facilitated various sessions of ICC & GRC on Work Ethics; Workplace safety
4. Mentoring & Monitoring visit for Departments & Committees
5. Facilitated Sessions of Students Welfare Committee – How to overcome failures in
life, Positive Mental Health
6. Copyright for IQAC Models- EPSCORP, TRAM and BERM
7. Trade Mark for BSSS & IQAC Logo and Tagline - The Coordinator mentioned that
a student from BA Ms Priya Raikwar prepared the logo for IQAC and the tagline
was prepared by Mr Sanjay Jothe, Assistant Professor-Social Work.
8. Prepared Strategic Plan : Vision 2018-2028

10. Half Yearly Meeting with HODs were conducted
The Principal told the Coordinator to channelize all activities through IQAC. On Point
No:3.3 , Mr Varghese Jacob suggested that sessions should not be a stand out activity in
the calendar, sessions of that nature should be ongoing. The outcome of those activities,
in terms of value addition and work culture should be assessed.
Item No: 4 Steps towards Professional development initiated by the departments
(Seminar/Conferences and FDPs) & Students Research
The Head of the Department of Commerce Dr Binoy Arikal informed the members the
following points
On 3 November 2018, one day FDP was organized by the Department of
commerce on “Syllabus & curriculum designing” the resource person for the FDP
was, Dr Anil Kumar Dhagat (former director GGITS Jabalpur (MP).
On 7 December 2018 , FDP on “Research strategy in commerce - Conceptual
understanding to practical Approach by Dr Pradeep Kumar Associate Professor
(Bharathidasan Govt. college for Women) Muthialpet , Puducherry.
Mrs Shewta Bhatnagar, Dr Vandana Jain and Dr Amrita Sahu attended 3 days
71st Annual Conference of Indian Commerce Association (20-22nd December
2018) at Osmania University Hyderabad
Mr Ish Gupta will be presenting a research paper during the 3 days international
conference (5-7th January 2019) on “Digital strategies for organizational success”
at Prestige Institute of Management Gwalior .
Dr Smitha Pillai will be attending 3 days international conference (16-18th
January 2019) on social entrepreneurship at TISS in Mumbai.
Dr Lila Simon, HOD- Management shared the following updates on Professional
Development
• Mr Mahendra was awarded the Best - paper for his presentation on Marketing
Promotion of Herbal Products : Online Business In India during the at National
conference at Amity University Gwalior on 16th Oct 2018
• National Workshop on From Stress to Happiness was conducted by the
Department of Management on 5th and 6th Oct 2018

Mr Zeeshan A Siddiqui - HOD, Computer Applications shared the following details.
• National Seminar on " Emergence of Cloud Computing in New IT Perspective"
sponsored by MPCST on 7th and 8th September 2018 was conducted.
• The faculty members also contributed by writing chapters for the book entitled
"Cloud Computing in New IT Perspective" which was released in Nov 2018.
• FDP which will be organized in the month of January 2019.

B. Ed students were taken to ETST(Education today Society Tomorrow)
Workshop at Panchgani
National Seminar on Reforms in Teacher Education for Constructivist Schooling
has been finalized for 1 and 2 February 2019
Research cell has approved on an MRP by the students of third semester B. Ed
titled " Factors effecting dropout rates in rural and urban sectors of MP”.
Guest Lectures to enhance the teaching learning skills of the students have been
organized catering to the holistic development of students.
Dr Perminder Kaur, Department of Economics
Mrs. Shumayela Hassan attended an International Conference organized by
VIPSAR, Indore on 8 December, 2018 and was awarded the Best Paper.
A few students have submitted their rough drafts on intended research topics.
Article on “Analysis of Relevance of Cashless Economy in India”by Dr Perminder
Kaur is under publication.
Mr Abraham K Varghese, HOD- Social Work shared the details of departmental
initiatives.
3 Day Workshop on SPSS (Statistical Package of Social Sciences)
conducted on 17-19/09/2018
Total Number participants: 55 (Faculty Members= 15 Students= 40)
Proposed for a 3 Day workshop on Project Planning and Proposal
Writing. Date: 23-25/01/2019 Expected Participants= 75 (Including
Department Faculties).
Proposed for a 1 day workshop on Steps & Process of
NGO/Society/Trust Registration
March 2019 Expected Participants = 75 (Including Department Faculties)
From Department of English Dr Swati Sharma shared the below mentioned points
24 and 25 September UGC Sponsored Professional Development Programme
and it was in collaboration ELTAI and 102 participants
On 15 December, one day Teacher Training Programme was organized
which was sponsored by Cambridge University; 10 participants from BSSS
and 10 from other colleges attended the programme.
Research – Dr Archana Lucas submitted MRP proposal to the Research
Approval Committee; Dr Supriya Mandloi would submit her MRP report to
UGC in the month of January
Dr Saman’s Research article got published in a Scopus indexed , Journal
published by Taylor and Francis- Routledge
ELTAI workshop
Physical Education
26 January – 2 February 2019, Sports Meet will be organized and planned to
culminate along with the Management Fest.

Item No: 6 Update on Strategic Plan of BSSS (BSSS Vision-2025) & Item No: 7
Update on Participation in NIRF and India Today ranking
The coordinator shared that a draft of Strategic Plan was sent to two external experts
(Dr Japee and Dr Geeta) to get feedback and will be working in that line to further
furnish it. She also shared the long term plan of the institution, which are as follows :
1 Expansion of Campus
2 Establishing Research lab
3 Develop BSSS as a Research Centre
4 Establish Incubation Cell
5 Venturing into more Government Projects
6 100% Qualified faculty
7 Deemed to be University
Ms Archana Naik updated that on 8 December 2018 the requirements for NIRF was
uploaded on the website and two areas were covered – college level and overall aspects.
The supporting documents will be uploaded by January as per the instructions by MHRD.
She added that last year also the college participated and NAAC gives weightage for the
participation in NIRF its assessment criteria. She also shared the problems confronted,
some of the low lying areas are Research, Consultancy and student Progression. Placement
Cell is now taking care of student progression.
Dr Lila Simon updated that department of Management and Humanities submitted the
documents for the India Today Ranking.
In continuation to the Strategic Plan, Dr John shared that in few years’ time the faculty
members will be enrolled as doctoral research guides which will leverage the research area.
Dr John also shared that very soon the institution would take up training programmes and
dialogue in that line has already started with Central University, Sagar since they have a lot
of funds allocated to train school teachers and BSSS faculty members could be Master
Trainers (MTs) under PMMMNMTT1. Mr Varghese shared that to scale up the research
area, it is very much necessary to develop a road map seeing the current trends. Mr
Varghese quoted the Budget Analysis as an example for Reflection and Review of the
current scenario, and shared that those deliberations and discourses could be shared with
the Government which will position the college in a strategic manner in the state of MP.
Item No: 8 Quality enhancement initiatives taken by ED Cell to promote
entrepreneurs
Dr Smitha Pillai (ED Cell, In-Charge) shared that they are working in four areas
Ideation, Exploration, Experimentation, Incubation. Idea Generation guidance was
given to the students in groups as well as in person. Mr Swapnil and Mr Amit from Atul
Incubation Centre are in contact with the students on regular basis. Idea generation
workshop was also conducted. For linkages and collaboration few MOUS were signed
and some under process. Regular meetings were arranged with experts in India and
abroad through skype. Dr Smitha shared that the college has planned to give seed
money to the students for initiating start-ups. Workshops and trainings were arranged
on the needs identified by the students. Few of the students have started their business,
some are in the infancy stage and the Department of Science came up with three
projects. She also shared the details of start-ups by the students and the details. She also
shared the particulars of Executive PG programme on Entrepreneurship in
1 Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching. Scheme
collaboration TISS. Seed Money was requested by the student entrepreneurs which led
to a brief discussion and Mr Varghese suggested that those students could be introduced
to the banks rather than giving them money. Dr John supported the suggestion given
by Mr Varghese.
Item No: 9 Innovative measures taken by the Research Cell to promote Research
culture in the institution & Item No: 10 Information on Minor Research Projects
sanctioned for faculty and Students by Research Approval Committee (RAC)
Mr Rutwik Gandhe shared the details of the activities conducted by Research Cell.

2. Organized workshops
Mr Varghese suggested that the findings of the surveys could be disseminated jointly
with the partner organization which will reach a wider audience, which is a way for
fetching macro level studies in future. Mr Rutwik shared that Science Popularization
Seminar would be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Science. A
proposal from Rhythm was also submitted to find the effectiveness the programme
aired.
Mr Rutwik briefed about the initial talk with IIT Kharagpur for Faculty Development
Programme. As far as MRPs are concerned 8 proposals from students and 7 by faculty
members were submitted to the Research Approval Committee. The Coordinator
suggested that Students involvement in Research will definitely gave a wider exposure
but the classroom learning part should not be affected. She opined that departments
should arrange tutorials or special classes to bridge the gap. The Chairperson also
supported the suggestion by IQAC.
The HoD, Social Work cited an example that one of the students who was involved in
the project immediately got a job after the course with a decent package. He shared that
from HoDs point of view, engagement in projects have given the student to get wider
coverage. Mr Varghese shared that this kind of engagements should lead to a win-win
situation for the students as well as the institution. He also suggested that as HoD, one
needs to visualize how long the institution will be a data gathering agency, when we
will be known for analysis, converting the analysis into a proposal. Both practical and
theoretical inputs are important for social work students. The forum opined that
integrated learning should be made available for the students.
Item No: 11 Renewal of Autonomous Status
Dr Ashish Dilraj informed that the autonomy renewal application was submitted to
UGC on 5 December 2018. The UGC will constitute a committee for the inspection
after reviewing the documents submitted.
Item No: 12 Feedback of the Certificate Courses completed in November 2018
Sr Maurice George (In Charge, Certificate Course) shared the details of the
Certificate Courses. She also shared that some of the courses are yet to begin in the
month of January 2019, while the incomplete ones will be over by January 2019.

Dr John suggested that an analysis on the drop out and non-compliance should be made.
Sr Maurice shared that 1195 Registered, 970 students qualifying for certificate and 270
are awaiting the results.

GAP –BSSS Conference details were shared by Dr Lila Simon.
Midterm Examination updates were shared by all the HoDs.
The new courses BPES, B Sc – Physics, Maths and Statistics, BA- Maths as an
optional subject was shared by Mr N T Abraham
Autonomous Semester examination conducted in November and December, was
shared by Mr Zeeshan A Siddiqui.
Social Outreach activity details were shared by Mrs Archana Naik, present
academic year, a government school was selected for the programme and in the
month of January & February as per the time slot given by the school, student
volunteers along with the faculty members will execute it.
The Coordinator pointed that the HoDs should take into account the Syllabus
enhancement/Curricular revision workshop for enhancing the quality of curricular
aspects. The Principal told that the external members who were absent for two
consecutive meetings should be replaced with other experts.
The meeting adjourned at 5 pm with a thank you note by the Principal.
The Coordinator shared that next meeting would be called in the month of April 2019.
