Sunday, September 6, Day 1: DEPART USADepart Los Angeles airport on an overnight flight to St. Petersburg. Dinner and breakfast are served on the plane.

Monday, September 7, Day 2: ARRIVE IN ST. PETERSBURGUpon arrival at St. Petersburg airport, we are greeted by our English speaking tour guide and will be transferred to our hotel for our 2 PM check-in. Enjoy time at leisure to become acclimated to the local time zone. Relax with a welcome drink before meeting our fellow travelers at the welcome dinner at the hotel. Overnight in St. Petersburg. Tuesday, September 8, Day 3: ST. PETERSBURGAfter breakfast, we will start the day with a visit and Liturgy at Kazan Cathedral, once the main cathedral of the Russian empire, built in the early 19th century in dedication to the most venerated icon in Russia – Our Lady of Kazan. The view of St. Petersburg from its ob-servation deck is truly magnificent. We will visit the Smolenskoye cemetery (chapel of St. Xenia), one of the largest and oldest cemeteries in St. Petersburg. Continue to Alexander Nevsky Monastery, a complex which was once home to more than a dozen Russian Ortho-dox churches. We will also view the monument to Peter the great “Medniy Vsadnik” (“cop-per horseman”) – the symbol of St. Petersburg. Dinner at our hotel and overnight. (B, D)

Wednesday, September 9, Day 4: ST. PETERSBURGToday we visit St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterhof - an Orthodox masterpiece with beautifully painted galleries and a ceramic iconostasis inside. We continue to the state historical park “Tsarskoe Selo” (Tsar’s village) and the palace. Built-in the second half of the 18th century, it represents the glory of Russia’s “golden age.” We will visit the amazing Palace of Catherine the Great (Pushkin), including the fully restored Amber Room located in it. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

Thursday, September 10, Day 5: ST. PETERSBURGThis morning we visit St. Isaak’s Cathedral, the 4th largest domed cathedral in the world. The interior decor features abundant use of paintings, mosaic works, and sculptures made by well-known Russian artists and sculptors. We will continue with a visit to the mar-velous Russian-style Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. In the afternoon, we will visit the Hermitage Museum. It ranks among the largest museums of the world with world-fa-mous masterpieces. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B, D)

Friday, September 11, Day 6: ST. PETERSBURG TO VLADIMIR We have an early breakfast at our hotel before we transfer to St. Petersburg train station where we will board the high-speed Sapsan train to Vladimir. Upon arrival, we board our motorcoach and proceed to Vladimir. Vladimir is now consid-ered one of the major towns of the Golden Ring community towns, which have played a sig-nificant role in Russian history. The city boasts three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which we will view during our visit to the city: the Golden Gates, Vladimir’s unofficial symbol, the Assumption, and St. Dimitry Cathedrals. We will continue to Bogolyubovo as it is also a part of the Golden Ring tour. The town of Bogolyubovo was originally founded as a fortress in the 12th century by Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky (“Bogolyubsky” means “loved by God”). Among the sights worth visiting, we will make a stop at the Bogolyubovsky Monastery and the Church of the Intercession. Dinner at our hotel and overnight. (B, D)

Suzdal, dating from the 10th century. Like other Russian Kremlins, it was originally a fortress or citadel and was the religious and administrative center of the city. A visit is planned to Ponikarovsky Monastery, established in the 14th century. Today nuns inhabit the convent, but everyday life in the monastery remains as it was back in the early days. We will also visit the Monastery of Saint Euthymius (also known as Spasso-Ephimovsky monastery), Suzdal’s biggest monastery. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner at our hotel and overnight. (B, L, D)

Sunday, September 13, Day 8: VLADIMIR – MOSCOW After breakfast at our hotel, We visit Sergiev Posad, an ancient town renowned for its Trin-ity – St. Sergius monastery. That monastery, known as the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra is the most important Russian monastery. It is situated about 70 km to the north-east from Moscow. The architectural complex of Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra was developed in several cen-turies. It also holds the Theological Seminary, the largest library of religious literature, the famous icons, historical and artistic treasures. Following our visit and lunch at the local restaurant, we will continue to Moscow. Liturgy will be celebrated. Dinner at the hotel and overnight in Moscow. (B, L, D)

Monday, September 14, Day 9: MOSCOWFollowing breakfast, we visit the Kremlin grounds. The Moscow Kremlin is the center of Moscow and Russian politics. We visit the Cathedral of the Assumption, built-in 1479, used for the coronation of the Tsars and the Cathedral of the Archangel, completed in 1509, used for burying the Tsars. We see St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Novodevichy Convent, one of the most interesting architectural monuments in Moscow. Following our tour, we’ll proceed to the old Arbat pedestrian walking street lined with shops, cafes, street vendors and artists. We will see the house of Great Russian poet, Pushkin, and the memorial dedicated to him and his wife Natalie Goncharova and its many treasures. We see the famous cake factory, “red square” and the gum department store. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Moscow. (B, D)

Tuesday, September 15, Day 10: MOSCOWBreakfast at our hotel. Today we first visit Danilov Monastery, the oldest monastery in Mos-cow established in the 1200s by St. Prince Danilo, which presently serves as the official headquarters of the Russian Orthodox Church. Also, explore the Tretyakov gallery with its world’s largest collection of Russian art. Farewell dinner at the local restaurant and over-night at our hotel in Moscow. (B, D)
