THE BEST ITALIAN POP MUSICIANS

Pop music started in Italy in the 1950s. Its most famous showcase, then and

now, is the Festival of Sanremo.

In Italy there are many pop musicians who represent Italian pop music in Italy

and around the world.

Modà is an Italian pop group which was formed in 2002 but it didn’t

become very famous until 2011 with the album “Viva i Romantici” . The

group has taken part in the Sanremo Festival several times. In 2011 the

group came second in the duet “Arriverà” with the singer Emma.

Francesco Gabbani is another very famous Italian singer. He won this

year’s Sanremo Festival with the pop song “Occidentali’s Karma”. Everyone

loves this song and you can hear it played on every radio and TV station at

the moment.

Michele Bravi became famous when he won the Italian edition of “X Factor” in

2013 with the song “La vita e la felicità”. This year he reached 4th

place in the Sanremo song Festival with his song entitled “Il Diario degli Errori”.

Tiziano Ferro is an Italian singer who has also been successful abroad.

Teenagers love his songs and they all want to get tickets for his tours and concerts. His most famous songs are

“Rosso relativo” and “Potremmo ritornare”.

Emma Marrone is a singer and TV personality. She won the 9th edition of the reality show “Amici”. She won the Sanremo Festival and has taken part in the World Music Awards and the MTV

Europe Music Awards.

A lot of foreign singers and bands are famous in Italy. Here is a selection of just some of them – the ones we love

most!

Ed Sheeran is one of the most well-known foreign pop singers in Italy

because he often performs here. His most recent concert was in Turin and

thousands of people went to hear him. His most recent album is “Divide” but his most famous is “X” with the song

“Photograph”.

Coldplay is a UK group formed in London in 1997.There are four

musicians in the group.They became world-famous in 2000 with the single “Yellow” which was included in their

debut album “Parachutes”.

Imagine Dragons is a US pop group which started working in 2008 but

which rose to fame in 2012 with the album “Night Visions”. Some of its

international successes include “On top of the world”, “Radioactive” and

“Demons”

One Republic is a pop group that was formed in Colorado Springs in 2002. Its first album, “Dreaming Out” came out in 2007 then after a six year break they

published the album “Native” which became a world-wide success.

The musical instruments most often used in pop music are the electric

keyboard, the electric guitar and bass and drums.

Pop songs tend to be quite simple and catchy with lots of repeated refrains. This is why pop music is so popular!
