POTENTATE 2020 BRENT NORRIS
AND LADY TRACEY
Nobles, Ladies and Friends of Bektash
During these unprecedented times, it is my sincere hope that we are a bit closer to get-ting this behind us. With that being said, I have heard and read so many great stories these past several weeks, friends helping friends, neigh-bors helping neighbors and strangers helping strangers. It is my hope that this way of life will continue many years to come and is not forgotten as time passes.
Bektash is going to follow the guidelines from the Governor’s office along with the guidance of the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the State of New Hampshire Kenneth A. Clay concerning gatherings for all future upcoming events.
The best way to put it is when the experts tell us what to do, we will follow these guidelines with cau-tion. Waiting a bit longer, if nec-essary, to ensure the health and safety of our Nobles is of utmost importance. Although we are scheduled for a June Stated Meeting and we are leaving it on the schedule at this time, please check with the Bektash web-site at bektashshriners.org for any up-dates. A special stated meeting will be announced if necessary. I have updated the Bektash Cal-endar for future events…some things have been added and some removed. Exciting things are happening at Bektash, we are looking forward to seeing each other real soon. Lady Tracey and I wish everyone well. Brent Norris Potentate

I hope you all are well and wearing your mask. Once this virus is finally over and it is safe to return to normalcy, let’s have a party with food and plenty of liquid refreshment. Lady Judy
and I are well as of today and we hope to stay that way. Dixie and I have taking turns going to the Temple to pickup and check on our mail. So far so good. Dixie has the Shrine Center phone ring at her home so she can answer all incom-ing calls. I cannot give you any dates for upcoming events due to the uncertainty of when New Hampshire will reopen. NSA Fall Field Days is still in limbo. The 2020 Imperial Ses-sion has been cancelled –on to 2021. On a happy note, our Ill. Potentate Brent and First Lady Tracy along with other Divan members have been busy renovating the back 2 bathrooms with new tile and paint. It is rumored that the Illustrious was seen in the parking lot power washing the toilets while it snowed. Anyone who might have a picture of that, please send it to me. I’m sure it would be a great picture for the Bektash News. A tip of the Fez to Illustrious Sir and his renovation crew for all the hard work. Well, that is it for now! Everyone stay healthy and safe. Hope to see you all very soon. Yours in the Faith, Bushie GUILD “BUSHIE” HILL, P.P. BEKTASH RECORDER

SPRINGFIELD HOSPITAL 95-Year Milestone
The year 2020 is a milestone for Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield, Massachusetts, as we are celebrating 95 years of car-ing for kids! The hospital doors officially opened to patients and families on February 21, 1925, and was originally built to provide pediatric orthopaedic specialty care to children stricken with polio. To this day, the Springfield Shriners Hospital remains the only freestanding specialty children’s hospital in Massachusetts located outside of Boston. It is also one of 22 Shriners Hospitals for Chil-dren locations throughout North America, which notably makes up one of the largest pediatric health care systems in the world.

Our focus on treating children with congenital and acquired or-thopaedic conditions continues to evolve, leading to the notewor-thy expansion of service lines. In the 1990s, the hospital expand-ed its orthopaedic services to include care for children with cleft lip and palate, rheumatology, and chest wall deformities. Today, the hospital also offers sports health and medicine, inpatient re-habilitation, pediatric urology and fracture care to meet the cur-rent health care needs of the pediatric population. In addition to a broad range of specialty services, families enjoy the convenience of having their child’s treatment and therapeutic care provided under one roof. This comprehensive care includes high quality inpatient surgical and outpatient care; a motion anal-ysis center (utilizing a 3D motion capture system), physical, oc-cupational and speech therapies and a state of the art rehabilita-tion gym; orthotic and prosthetic services; and radiology with ul-tra-low dose X-ray imaging, in addition to many support services.
In 2019, we treated over 12,000 children in our outpatient and inpatient areas, and look forward to continuing to care for count-less more for many years to come.

To the promised land our friends have gone, To the land of perfect rest;
Their work is done—and the setting sun Has sealed their life’s request.
They have left this earthly strand, For the house beyond the sea,
Though the past is gone, they will still live on To us all—Sweet in our Memory.
