Year 6 2017 Farewell GiftThank you to Year 6 from 2017 who kindly donated our new drinking station as a farewell gift to the school. Have a great week at Neutral Bay.David ShusterPrincipal

Home RunnersCaptain: Yuma Jo Most Valuable Player: Claudia Offer

It was a compelling match that ended with our win 21-20. We started amazingly, but completely collapsed in the 2nd innings. If Claudia didn’t catch the ball at home and to get two runners out, we would’ve surely lost!

StrikersCaptain: Dylan Tyler MVP: Mack Waters

Today the Strikers played really well. I think we did a good job in batting. Although we lost 15-18 against Neutral Bay 4, all of us hit a homerun. I think we need to work on stopping the ball because sometimes the ball went through our legs. The MVP goes to Mack because he caught two people out and got his first homerun!

Double OutsCaptain: Krishan Price MVP: Tom Metcalfe

Today we played a successful match against Anzac 2 from Anzac Park Public. It was a successful match, as we triumphed 26-14. Since our last match, we improved our batting, even if we could work on it a bit more. All in all, our fielding was excellent and this has been a great match of which everyone in the team can be proud.

MVPsCaptain: Charlie Atkinson MVP: Charles Conlon

MVPs won 18-15 against the Strikers. There were a few tricky balls to face, but we survived. I’m very proud of the team. Charles Conlon was a very good sportsman and he got the MVP.

StealersCaptain: Lucas Fargeat MVP: Lucian Samuels

It was a tough game against Middle Harbour 3, although the umpire said we were encouraging each other. We lost at the end of the day 16-14. It was very unlucky.

SlidersCaptain: Hunter Camelo-Gomez MVP: Lachlan Bennett-Cramond

Neutral Bay 6 unfortunately lost to Artarmon 5. We scored 12 points. Neutral Bay hit some great balls. We scored 12 points. Artarmon 5 were a hard team and scored 19 points.

Year 2 students have been reading and studying the book ‘Uno’s Garden’ by Graeme Base. The book is about a fantasy world full of extraordinary creatures. 2H made up their own animals and wrote about them, as if they were being discovered by Uno’s grandchildren in his garden…

Uno’s grandchildren were at a crystal clear waterfall when they saw three gurgling girkooks playing among the tall branches. It has brown spots and a bird like head with razor sharp claws and yellow wings. It also has a brown beak.It walks elegantly amongst the forest floor and leaps across the fields and walks very slowly but when something wants to eat it it runs.

The girkook sounds like a kookaburra. It laughs very loud and they are very cheeky.By Sina

Uno’s grandchildren were playing next to a crystal waterfall and they saw a turger that was swimming then went out then slept.

There is a heard of turgers. It has a shell as hard as a brick. It has a tiger’s head and legs, the rest is a turtle’s body. They walked into a mysterious cave that was forbidden. There was a water hole and a lake. They went swimming in the lake. By Matthew

Uno’s granddaughter was walking in a beautiful forest with a crystal clear waterfall beside her, with magnificent beautiful soft water. Until 10 elegant epos’ came crashing through the trees.

The epos were walking very slowly and suspiciously to hunt for its prey. It also has long legs and it has a very busy tail and it has floppy ears. The epo sprints when it sees food. ByTippi

Uno’s young grandchildren were sprinting through the silky soft grass in the beautiful rainforest in Africa. Suddenly they heard a sound. It sounded creepy and scary! So they hid in the dark green bushes.

The butterbee was gnawing on its prey. It has deadly poison than can kill you! It has black stripes as black as coal and yellow stripes as yellow as honey. Its eyes are as big as coal and as round as a roundabout. It was bigger than a jellybean and smaller than a football. It has an enormous, adorable wing. Its skin is covered in fur and yellow and black scales that are as small as an ant but when their all together it looks big.

It flies around crazy to look for its prey. By Byron

Last week KM practiced counting, matching and recognising numbers from one all the way up to 100!

We also used pipe cleaners to make our sight words.

We used blocks to work out the area of different shapes. Some shapes had an area of more then 40 blocks!

We are excited for our assembly this week and have been learning a Rock ‘n’ Roll dance to perform on stage!

Miss I. Blackie - 5B Class Teacher

This week marks the week of Harmony Day. 3K signed a class pledge to ‘choose kind’ as a way to embrace and celebrate differences within the classroom and on our playground. This includes saying “Hi” to someone who you do not usually play with, sharing with classmates, and writing a thank you note in response to a kind act. 3K now have a kindness jar in their class where one kind act = one token where you thank a friend or peer. 3K loved the idea of writing notes and filling the jar with kindness as a way to show respect and celebrate each other!

5B were extremely excited last week to meet their kindergarten BUDDIES!

Nothing could prepare us for how sweet, friendly and fast our buddies were on the playground. We spent some time getting to know each other, finding out our similarities and teaching our buddies some new playground games. We will be visiting our buddies once a fortnight to help them with their special class programs, as well as having times together to share and play. 5B can’t wait to see their buddies again!

Skort Proposal voteThe Uniform Shop proposal regarding adding a skort as an option to the sports uniform was resolved at the P & C meeting held last week on Wednesday 14 March.

We received input from parents who would like the skort option, as well as from parents who do not see the need. I presented all of the feedback at the meeting, which we discussed at length, followed by a vote.

The motion to add a skort to the NBPS sports uniform was NOT passed, and as such we will not be adding this to our uniform at this time. Among other pros and cons discussed, it was generally felt that the current offerings are both practical and look smart, versus us adding another variation. We appreciate there are differing views on what people would like offered, but at the same time we will never be able to meet all asks, so thank you for your understanding.

P&C meetings are held each month and the dates are advertised in the school newsletter, should you wish to join and hear more about what's happening at our school.
