NEW NUMBER SYSTEM
MAKING IT EASIER
The boats now have a new coloured number system on their roll-cage for ease of identification.
Because two people can run in the same boat, we run A teams in each class, followed by B teams
in each class.
Whilst there is a run order, technical issues can result in teams changing when they run during
the round.
This can become very confusing trying to figure out what class a boat is racing in, and which
boats are their competitors.
To make it easier all boats are now running a coloured number system on their roll-cages, that
match the number identifier on the back of the program.
¨ LS Class—BLUE background—White Number
¨ Group A—BLACK background—White Number
¨ Superboat—WHITE background—Black Number
¨ Series Leader after Round 1 will be—Red background—White Number
Page 7
LS CLASS
Featuring for the first time in 2017 is the new LS Class.
This new entry level class allows for prospective racers to fit any LS motor into a V8 Superboat
provided it is fitted with a control cam.
Brand new LS engines with 550+ Horse Power are available from $10,900 or teams can run
second hand motors that suit their budgets.
The LS engines are readily available, cheap and easily upgradable making it the perfect class to
gain racing experience before transforming it into an unlimited machine.
For more information visit www.afjsa.com/rules for engine information and the LS Class rules.
Also racing in the LS Class are the Restricted 350’s.

UNLIMITED CLASS
V8 Superboats are the top class of racing in jetsprinting with the boats being unrestricted except
for a minimum engine size.
This is the only class where Superboats are allowed to use Methanol & E85-Eflex Fuel
V8 Superboat Engines are unrestricted and vary depending on the design concept behind them.
With the key to successful racing being maximum manoeuvrability and speed some believe in
the use of heavy-weight big-block engines with capacities up to 676 cubic inches which can
produce in excess of 1400 horsepower.
The alternative is a new generation of all-alloy lightweight V8 small-block engines with a
capacity of 500 cubic inches, weighing only 150 kgs and producing in excess of 900 horsepower.
V8 Superboat engines use methanol fuel and have an incredible fuel-burn rate of 20 litres per
average run lasting around 50 seconds.

FUN FACTS: Rookie of the Year (NZ) 2013
3rd UIM Worlds Superboat 2016
Racing is Aaron’s passion, it’s his life, it’s what gets him out of bed in the morning. He spends all his spare time, researching and designing improvements to the hull and motor.
He started off as a navigator in 2008. Then he worked for White Pointer boats building the Stinger hulls. In 2013, he raced as a driver in a jointly owned boat for his first season, and was awarded the “Rookie of the Year”. Work and family commitments meant that he was unable to race another boat until the 2015 season, but he still maintained an involvement with the sport, fixing hulls and attending race meetings during that time. In 2015, Aaron put together Rusti 1, and raced the 2015/2016 NZ series and the 2016 World Series with his partner, Julie-Anne as navigator. The team placed 3rd overall in the Superboats at the 2016 UIM World Series which was a fantastic achievement or a new package and a new team.
