THE ART INSTITUTE'S EXHIBITION O N this and following pages are found

reproductions of works shown in the twenty-sixth annual exhibition of the Art Institute of Chicago, which opened on November 14th. Because of its high standard this is reckoned among the most notable exhibitions held during the year. The prizes were awarded as follows: The Potter Palmer gold medal to E. W. Red field for a painting entitled "By the

River"; the Norman Wait Harris silver medal to Giovanni B. Troccoli for a por trait; the Norman Wait Harris bronze

medal to Arthur B. Carlos for a painting entitled "Repose"; the Martin B. Cahn prize to Oliver Dennett Grover for a painting entitled "June Morning on Lake Orta"; Helen M. Turner, Frederick C. Hibbard and Vaclav Vytlacil received honorable mentions.
