Multicultural Perspectives PublicSpeaking

Wentworth Point Public School had three representatives in thelocal final of this competition which was held at HomebushPublic School last week. The competition has two divisions, one for students in Years 3 and 4 and one for students in Years5 and 6. Students presented a prepared speech and then had5 minutes to prepare an impromptu speech. Sriya was our Year4 competitor and she did a magnificent job with her preparedspeech “Multiculturalism at School” then followed up with awell argued impromptu speech on the topic “Accidents”. In the

senior competition Ruqayah and Lily both presented passionatespeeches on the topics “It’s Complicated” and “Human Rightsand Wrongs” with their speeches being well received by theaudience. Their impromptu topic was “Taking a Risk” whichbrought some entertaining responses from the competitors.Whilst our students were unsuccessful in reaching the nextround of the competition they can be justifiably proud of theirefforts in preparing for and competing in the local final. They aredefinitely public speakers in the making. Well done girls!
