By now, most of you should be well aware that the Vestry has made the decision to move forward with a repair and renovation of the existing Harris House.

We have been guided from the beginning by a desire for space where Christian forma-tion can flourish, where we can celebrate together with joy who we are as a community, and where those with all ranges of physical ability will be able to move about freely.

We are moving forward with a 3-year repair and renovation that will make our meeting spaces secure, safe, and more accessible for our parishioners and the wider community. We anticipate the first phase of the project to begin in May, 2017.

Dr. Wendy Gladstone and Mr. Steve Armstrong have agreed to serve as Co-Chairs of a Capital Campaign that will coincide with our annual stewardship campaign. In early December, all of our households will be contacted in person to share with you information about the annual and capital campaigns, and invite your financial support. A kick-off event is planned for Sunday, December 4.

Even amidst the anticipated busyness of the pre-Christmas season, please keep your hearts open to join us on this journey. Peace

Where in the World is Eric LaMontagne? Just an update on our journey. As some of you know, I have been in process for the Brotherhood. On September 24th I took vows with The Companions of Our Lady of Walsingham. OLW for short. We are a modern Marion and Benedictine Monastic Community. The Holy Rule of Saint Benedict is the fundamental source of our inspiration and Spirituality. The vows are of stability, conversion of life, and obedience.

We had planned to return to Christ Church after my vows but I was told by the Community that I would need to stay in place (Church of the Transfiguration) for the foreseeable future. This may change down the road. We will always think of Christ Church as our spiritual home. We miss you all and thank you for the past ten years of friendship and acceptance. Please pray for us on our faith journey.

Br. Eric Paul OLW and Pat LaMontagne

Advent and Christmas MusicThe music of Christmastide is cherished by many listeners and singers. It is especially cherished by our Junior Choir & Parish Choir. Are you interested in singing some of your favorite carols and perhaps learning a few news ones? If so, you are welcome to join our choir for the Advent season! In addition to singing Sunday morn-ings at 10:30, the Parish Choir performs a 30-minute prelude at the Christmas Eve Festival Eucharist and Service of Candle Lighting at 7:30. A favorite of the night-owl singers in our group, the Midnight Mass Service, begin-ning at 11pm on Christmas Eve, offers a meditative service with soothing music. If you are interested in being a part of any of these musical offerings, please contact Suzanne Jalbert Jones. We look forward to hearing you!

Junior ChoirThis year, the Junior Choir will offer a lovely Christmas anthem featured in Christ Church’s annual Christmas Pageant at 4pm on Christmas Eve.

SERVING the local and global community

Feed My Lambs Thanksgiving & Christmas BasketsAs we have every year through Feed My Lambs, the Exeter Welfare Depart-ment, and the SAU 16 schools, we will be participating in the Thanksgiving Basket program for local families. Look out for plates in November & De-cember to sign up to make a Thanksgiving or Christmas basket and/or to buy Christmas gifts for area children. This year we are also looking for volunteers to help with drop off & distribution on November 19 from 8:00am-11:00am & December 17 from 8:00am-11:00am. Please email Lee Woodworth at [email protected], if you are interested in helping out with drop off & distribution.

DO YOU SEW? Want a quick at home project that serves both Christ Church and the Seaman’s Outreach Project out of Ports-mouth? The sewing project is an ongoing opportunity for ministry with the production of “Ditty Bags.” These cloth bags are filled with goodies like shampoo, stationery, pens, colored pencils, toothpaste, and good wishes for those sailors who are stuck aboard ships in Portsmouth in the winter. This year, Christ Church has been asked to provide disposable shaving razors and wool hats. For the sewers, one yard of fabric yields 4 bags. We have directions and examples to copy. We need people who can sew a straight seam and zigzag a bit. If you are interested please call Darla in the church office: 772-3332.

Seacoast Family Promise Host Week • December 18-25On Christmas Eve all are welcome at the stable. On Christmas Eve all are welcome because there’s always room for a little one. That cold winter’s night, beneath the star’s light... ...a Little One came into the world.

There’s always room. That’s what Seacoast Family Promise (SFP) is all about, especially during this Christmas season. It unites congregations of various faiths to assist families experiencing homelessness due to a crisis. Through the SFP program they are given hope and encouragement.

Christ Church is always looking for more volunteers to serve in any capacity. If you would like to find out more about any given volunteer role, please email Sally Farrell, [email protected].
