How ACRP Selects Research Topics

• Using IdeaHub, Idea Owners, and Teams

transform research ideas into complete

problem statements and submit them

• ACRP “harvests” problem statements

from IdeaHub on March 20th

• The AOC selects problem statements to

fund that are:

1. Relevant and valuable to airports

2. Technically feasible

3. Unaddressed by ACRP or others

Five Ways to Get Involved

1. Join the ACRP IdeaHub

community

2. Volunteer for a project

panel

3. Prepare a research proposal

4. Answer an ACRP survey

5. Use the research results

(1)

Join the ACRP

IdeaHub Community

• Visit ACRP’s website to

register yourself in IdeaHub

• Submit your research

idea(s)

• Collaborate with others to

develop and refine idea(s)

into problem statements

Page 14: THE AIRPORT COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROGRAMarkansasairports.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/... · The National Academies or the Transportation Research Board. Transportation Research

(2) Volunteer for

a Project Panel

• Project panels provide

technical guidance and counsel

to projects from start to end

• Nominations to serve on

project panels are usually due

in August or September

• Using the MyACRP portal,

nominate yourself or a

colleague

Page 15: THE AIRPORT COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROGRAMarkansasairports.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/... · The National Academies or the Transportation Research Board. Transportation Research

(3) Prepare a

Research Proposal

• Any individual, agency,

or other entity may

submit a proposal in

response to an RFP

• Detailed instructions for

on ACRP’s website

Page 16: THE AIRPORT COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROGRAMarkansasairports.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/... · The National Academies or the Transportation Research Board. Transportation Research

(4) Answer an ACRP Survey

• Researchers need input from airport practitioners to identify best practices, create case studies, and complete research

• ACRP needs input from industry stakeholders to improve the value and utility of its research products and programs

Are You Using ACRP Research

at Your Airport?

ACRP WANTS TO HEAR HOW

YOU USE THE RESEARCH!

Did you use Report 146 to develop

a new transportation plan?

Or maybe you used Synthesis 57 to

plan for an unusual influx of air traffic

for the Super Bowl?
