The Rotary Club of Richmond Meeting held on 3nd May 2010 President Michael O’Sullivan, Rotarian Ben Hosking and the Ainger Committee THE AINGER PUBLIC SPEAKING AWARD 2010 Results of the Final, held at the Amora Riverside Hotel, Richmond on Monday 3 May. rd After Heats held at the Training Unit of the NHP Richmond Headquarters, the following finalists gave their four-minute addresses on topics of their own choice, to members of the Richmond Rotary Club, teachers, parents and guests. Our adjudicators, Don and Margot Kinsey had outlined at the heats how the judging was done, and gave many hints to improve the entrants’ abilities to hold their audience and make them listen. This tuition resulted in a great improvement in presentation and effectiveness by our finalists. Winner: Susan Travis of Methodist Ladies’ College, who received a cash prize of $350, an inscribed Winner’s Medallion and had her name inscribed on the Perpetual Trophy. Runner-up: Stephanie Moorhouse of Kilvington Girls’ Grammar School, who received a cash prize of $250. In Third-Place: James Waugh of Wesley College, who received a cash prize of $175 An encouragement Award was presented to Christopher Davie-Smythe of St Bede’s College, Mentone Adjudicators Don and Margot Kinsey of Communicators Melbourne Page 1 of 3
