The 9th Commandment

You shall not covet your neighbors house.

What does this mean?

We should fear and love God that we do not scheme to get our neighbor’s inheritance or house or obtain it by false claims, but do all we can to help him keep it.

The 10th CommandmentYou shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his workers or his animals or anything that belongs to your neighbor.What does this mean?

We should fear and love God that we do not force or entice away from our neighbor his wife, workers or animals, but urge them to stay and do their duty.

What would happen if you went into a bank and, pretending to have a gun, demanded a million dollars?

What would happen if…Our law in the United States says that you can only be arrested if you break the law by something you say or do. You cannot be arrested because of what you think.

God’s law is different because even if we think sinful things, we are guilty of sinning against God.

What is coveting?(Psalm 10:2-3) In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.

(Galatians 5:17) For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
