SUMMER MUSINGS

Here are a few of the things going on at Newman during the summer lull:

Construction. The roof work has been completed! There is still much work to be done in the interior. Thank you Walt . Other Summer Projects. The student lounge is getting a cleanup with fresh paint! Thank you Dana Fischer and Brother Cody. Thank you to Eric Hueselman and Jacob Dadisman for helping Walt in the cleanup in Green Hall! We removed old mattresses/large furnishings and are working on cleaning the storage space. Garden Clean-Up - Work on the oleander bushes is also underway. The gardeners have cut and caned the bushes! The bushes are showing signs of new life! The much needed work will be done in phases so you will see some changes in time.

SUMMER SQUEEZE

As you know from previous financial reports, the Center has a perpetual cash-flow problem, which was pointedly noted in our recent audit. In the summer months this is particularly severe. Please don’t forget us during the summer months!

WISH LIST

We kindly ask that if you wish to make a donation for a specific need, please consider the following: 2 Altar cloths (one for the main chapel and one

for the table in the classroom used during the summer months. We do not have seasonal altar cloths so we would like to purchase the altar cloths for Ordinary Time which is the color green. Estimated cost for each cloth is approximately $360.00. We would purchase the altar cloths from the Benedictine Monastery in Tucson.

A study table for the student lounge. Size to accommodate about 4 students.

DOMINICAN INSTITUTE OF STUDENT MINISTRIES (DISM)

The conference is sponsored by the Western Dominican Province and includes leaders from other West Coast Newman Centers. Students will have the opportunity for discussing ministries, liturgy, and planning. Please pray for our student leaders!
