Face masks are required that cover both your nose and mouth and please maintain a distance of 6 ft from other parishioners.

We are reaching capacity at many of our weekend Masses, so we’d like to emphasize the importance of reserving a ticket online. We still have available seating at our daily Masses and no tickets are needed for daily Mass, so please also consider attending a daily Mass rather than a weekend Mass if you’re able. This will allow those who can only attend a Mass on the weekend the opportunity to do so.

We are currently requiring reservations for all weekend Masses as seating is limited.

To reserve your ticket, visit stmargaretmary.org

Please print it out or download it to your phone.

Tickets for the weekend Masses of February 6/7 will be available beginning Monday, February 1 at 8:30 am. Each Monday at 8:30 am you may request a ticket for the following weekend. If you need to cancel your reservation, this can be done through your Eventbrite account or your ticket confirmation email from Eventbrite. If you are having problems canceling, please email [email protected].

It is important to cancel your ticket if you are not going to use it. This will allow another parish member to attend.

Presentation of the Lord February 2 is the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas Day. According to Luke’s Gospel, when Mary and Joseph presented their child Jesus in the temple, Simeon recognized Him as the Messiah and declared him “a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” (Luke 2:32) It is an ancient custom of the Church to bless candles on this day – candles that will be used in the coming year for worship and for devotions. At St. Mar aret Mary there will be a blessing of candles at daily Mass at 8 am on Feb 2. You are invited to bring candles from home that you would like to have blessed for devotional use during the coming year. Blessing of Throats It is a usual custom on February 3, the Memorial of St. Blaise, to bless throats after Mass. This year due to the pandemic, we will not be blessing throats individually but the Presider will be offering a Blessing of Throats as part of the Final Blessing at the conclusion of Mass.

First Friday Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament Friday Feb 5 from 8:30 am – 11 am and Friday Feb 5 from 5:30 pm – 7pm Join us for Exposition to adore the true presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament – all are welcome. Come spend some precious quiet time with our Lord in the Church and feel free to bring a friend. If you have questions or if you are interested in participating in this prayer opportunity as a regular adorer, please contact Lisa Weis at 407-647-0726 or lisa@stmar aretmary.or .

Lenten Study on Fratelli Tutti (Via ZOOM)

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 18 from 7-8 pm. Facilitators: Sr. Rosemary Frank VandeLoo

Join us for a 4 week ZOOM study and discussion of this important writing.

What does Pope Francis’ Encyclical letter ‘Fratelli Tutti’ say? Here are a few lines: “We gorged ourselves on networking and lost the taste of fraternity.” Para. 33 “Service always looks to their faces, touches their flesh, senses their closeness and even, in some cases, ‘suffers’ that closeness and tries to help them. Service is never ideological, for we do not serve ideas, we serve people”. Para. 115 “We need to develop the awareness that nowadays we are either all saved together or no one is saved.” Para. 137 …’global society is not the sum total of different countries, but rather the communion that exists among them.’ Para. 149

outreach: Sharing

SMM Food Pantry Program The Farmworker Association of Florida (FWAF) is a statewide, grassroots, community-based, non-profit, membership organization with over 10,000 Haitian, Hispanic, and African American members with a 35-year history of working for social and environmental justice with farmworkers. Your food donations play a contribution in helping over 50,000 people annually. This week, in addition to sale items, consider donating: Tortillas Salsa Spaghetti & Sauce Peanut butter & jelly Dried beans Rice Cooking oil

Annual Rummage Sale We are sorry to announce that the Annual Rummage Sale is cancelled for 2021. Please save those items for 2022! If you absolutely must get rid of some items before next summer, consider donating them to The Sharing Center in Longwood. They are one of our outreach partners that serves the homeless and low income population in the area. They are located at 600 N. 17-92 and can be reached at 407-260-9155. SMM Lazarus Ministry Thanks You for Your School Supply Donations Thank you from the Lazarus Ministry for your donations to our recent School Supply Drive. Due to the overwhelming generosity of the St Margaret Mary Parishioners, we had enough school supplies to distribute to 210 bags last week. We distributed 150 at InTown Suites to those families who registered from various hotels on Lee Road. We also delivered 60 bags to St. Andrew Catholic School. We are in the planning stages of a Spring Cleaning event to deliver cleaning supplies to families living in hotels on Lee Rd in April after Easter, so look in the bulletin for more opportunities to donate and participate.

Holy Land Gifts –

Olive Wood Carvings

February 6/7 after Masses (Courtyard) Holy Land Gifts, represented by the Rashmawi family who are volunteer members from the Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem, will be visiting our Parish the weekend of February 6-7, and sell their olive wood gifts. Their religious crafts are made in home workshops by Catholic families who make their day to day living by selling them to pilgrims and tourists that visit the holy sites and shrines. With the hostilities worsening in the Holy Land and a lack of

Christian pilgrims, the traditional workshops of Olivewood have sustained severe damage. Therefore, unemployment there is at an all-time high, around 90%. In this dire situation, these religious articles that we will have for sale at the courtyard, are the sole source of income for the

Catholic community in Bethlehem and Jerusalem. If you can't afford purchasing any, just remember the Catholics of the Holy Land in your prayers and please pray for peace. Let us put our hands together to help 600 Catholic families to stay in their land with dignity and to keep the Christian identity over there. SMM Capital Outreach Grant Program Submission Deadline, March 1 We are pleased to announce the return of our Grant Program for the Spring 2021 cycle. We offer grants each spring and fall to non-profit organizations that serve people in need. Over the last nearly 20 years, we have provided grants to more than 130 groups who primarily serve our local community. If you know of, or

Retrouvaille Program is for Married Couples Struggling in their Relationship. This program is for couples with marital problems that want marriage help. Those who are considering marriage separation and those who are already separated or divorced are encouraged to consider the Retrouvaille Program. There is always hope of reviving your relationship. Some couples come to Retrouvaille during the initial signs of a marriage problem. Other couples are in a state of despair and hopelessness when they attend the program. Many lawyers and judges send couples to Retrouvaille as a prerequisite to filing for a divorce or rendering final decisions. Many marriage counselors and family therapists send their clients to Retrouvaille as a prerequisite to counseling. These professionals know that the tools of communication in marriage taught in the program are often what couples need. The Retrouvaille program is for husbands and wives and is not designed nor intended for couples in a co-habitating relationship. Details for the next Orlando weekend:

February 5-7 Registration ends: Feb. 3. Contact: [email protected] or 352-274-4614. All calls are confidential. helpourmarriage.org/program_information
