AMI celebrated its 30th anniversary on 5 December 2014. It has been 30 years of fighting against intolerance and against indifference, 30 years believing in a different and better future, 30 years cooperating to build a fairer world, 30 years of perseverance, 30 years of dreams, 30 years of projects, 30 years of achievements.

In its 30 years of existence, AMI has diversified its oper-ations, driven by increasingly active participation, adapt-ing to the development of society and seeking consistent and harmonious intervention.Since its founding on December 5, 1984, by surgeon urologist Fernando Nobre, AMI has been seen as an in-novative humanitarian organization in Portugal, aiming to intervene rapidly in crisis and emergency situations and to fight underdevelopment, hunger, poverty, social exclusion and the consequences of war anywhere in the world.

With Man at the center of its concerns, AMI has created fifteen social facilities and responses in Portugal and has performed in dozens of countries around the world, where it has sent tons of aid (medicines and medical equipment, food, clothing, vehicles, generators, etc…) and hundreds of volunteers.AMI Foundation’s mission is to bring humanitarian aid and promote human development, taking into account the Human Rights and the Millennium Development Goals in health, social and environmental, anywhere in the world, regardless of race, gender, age, nationality, language, politics, religion, philosophy or social stand-ing, looking at each person as unique, irreplaceable, and worthy of attention and care.
