A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT BY THE FERRYBANK SCOUT TROOP!!!Congratulations to the Ferrybank Scout troop who won the Phoenix Challenge in Mt. Melleray recently - well done to all.

To explain just how big an achievement this is for the Ferrybank Scout Group or any Scout Group, this is the All Ireland Scout Competition. This year there were over eighty Scout Patrols. A Patrol was ten Scouts. The competition was run from Thursday to Sunday in the Mount Melleray Scout Centre and on Friday and Saturday around Waterford City. All Patrols did extremely well. Over a thousand youth members and adults in total.

A great photo posted by Michael O’Sullivan on the ‘Ferrybank is in Waterford’ Facebook page. How many people can you name in it?

The photo was taken in the Abbey Church.

HIGH LIME CONTENT IN FERRYBANK WATER IS CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE!The problem with the high lime content in the Ferrybank water supply continues to cause a lot of problems for residents.Personally, I have already spent over €800.00 replacing pipes throughout the house including a new boiler. (I’m on my 4th kettle in the past couple of years).Last year a company advertised in our newsletter saying that they had a solution to the problem and said that they could fix it for once and for all.We received a lot of inquiries from Ferrybank residents about the system and once the solution was introduced into their homes, we followed up with them.(We wanted to make sure that they were 100% happy with the system as this is such an important issue in Ferrybank)The good news is that the results have been top class. The residents have been very happy with the immediate improvement to their water quality.

There’s plenty to do in Ferrybank Library and new members are always welcome.

• Patchwork Quilting: Ferrybank P’s & Q’s (Patchwork and Quilting Group) meet on Tues mornings at 11.30am. Experience not necessary – just come along to learn and share ideas. Next meeting is on Tues 2nd Sept.

SEPTEMBER IS ON THE WAY!WHY NOT TAKE UP A NEW HOBBY?

It’s always difficult to be sure that if you decide to spend money on a water filtration system that you’re going to get the results as promised. Knowing that you can trust a company is a big issue. So, if you’re thinking of getting a water system for your home, give us a call on 086 258 3456 or email us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to send you on the positive testimonials we’ve received from Ferrybank residents. If you’re interested at that stage, we’ll send you the contact details for the company and let you know how to go about getting the best price possible from them etc.

PLEASE NOTE: The Water Quality issue in Ferrybank is one of the topics at the ‘Ferrybank Community Residents Group’ meeting at the Abbey Community College this Thursday the 28th of August at 8:00pm

Check out what these Ferrybank customers are saying about their new water system. (There are plenty more which we can send you if you wish?)

My kettle has no lime scale in it any more. All the lime scale is gone from our shower heads and shower doors. My water is a lot softer. I spend less time cleaning. When I wash my dishes they come out spotless. I’m also very happy with the customer service that I have received.

Great service. Installation clean and tidy. Noticeable improvement in hot drinks and using the treated water for cooking. Kitchen sink and bathroom fittings much easier to keep clean. Very happy to have installed the system.

Within days of our Water Softener installation, our shower started to clear up, the kettle was boiling clean, clear water...and this was before we cleaned lime scale off anything! .. Very very impressed, and the chap who came to install it was very professional too.

• Knitting Circle: Whether you’re mad into knitting or just starting off – come along and meet some like-minded people. The group gets together on Thursday mornings in the library at 10am

• Book Club: The Book Club for adults meets on the last Wednesday of each month from 5.30 – 6.30pm. The next meeting after the summer break is on September 24th and we have lots of interesting titles lined up!

HEALTH HAZARD

In relation to the people that are walking dogs in the Abbey Park location, we would ask you to please refrain from allowing your dogs to foul the greens and gardens. Dog excrement is a potential health hazard for children at play, and also causes problems for the contractor who cuts the grass. If your dog does soil the greens and gardens or accidentally fouls on the pavement, please clean it up and take it home with you and dispose of it properly.
