Details of Screening Test and Instruction to Candidates

Following shall be the plan of the Screening Test, its components and syllabus etc. for screening of candidates for

appearing in the Skill Test for the positions of Library Assistant (Central Library) of Tezpur University.

Components of Written Test

Test Components - Total 200 marks Time

Objective Type (Multiple Choice) Test 2 hoursPart A- Library Science -120 marksPart B - General English - 20 marksPart C - Information Technology -40 marksPart D - General Awareness - 20 marks

Date of Test, Venue and Time: 29 April 2018, Government Girls' Higher Secondary & Multipurpose School,

Tezpur, 10 AM to 12 NOON

Note:1. The questions shall generally be on the minimum qualification level.

2. Each question will carry 1 mark.3. There shall be negative mark of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

Detailed Syllabus

Part A- Library Science: The contents of this part includes basic topics that are covered in the bachelor level course

of Library Science, Library and Information in Indian Universities

Part B - General English: Candidates' understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar,

sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. would be tested.

Part C - Information Technology: This part includes fundamentals of Information Technology, knowledgeorganization and information management, library management software, Reference and Information services,

Networks and Internet etc.

Part D - General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate's general awareness of

the environment around him/her and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledgeof current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be

expected of an educated person.

The candidates can sit in the Screening Test presuming they haveall the conditions of eligibility mentioned at the advertisement for the particular post. Anydeficiency in the eligibility will lead to cancellation of the candidature at any point of time duringthe process of recruitment. The issuance of Admission Slip is very much provisional and does notmean acceptance of the candidature of the candidate for the post.

'The admission to the screening test is truly provisional and the candidature is liable to be cancelled at any point in case of improper information/misconductor if the candidate fails to meet the eligibility requirement viz. educational qualification, experience age, caste, deposit of required fee (if applicable) etc. asstated in the advertisement.
